RUSH Game Thread - Orlando @ Jazz - 12/3/15 7 PM MST

I cant believe when Hayward was hot how many possessions he didnt touch the ball. Or they tried to run plays for the other guys. Just ride the hot hand. Hayward should have had more points in the first quarter and half. Part of it is him being more aggressive, part of it is the teammates but a lot of it is the coaching.

I agree with this. They went away from Gordon too early. Don't stop what's working until they make you.

If the team isn't playing with effort a lot of that is on coach.
Why do you always quote the wrong post that you want to respond to?
Seems like you do it all the time

Favors just looks low energy in general...slow to run up the court and looks out of shape in his play. He looked winded and was sweating profusely in the first half.

This.
I was texting back and forth with CL and brought this up multiple times. We both had money riding on favors performance so we were watching him closely and rooting for him and I kept noticing him being gassed/winded when he shouldn't have been based on how long he had been in the game and the effort he was putting out

Ya, it doesn't seem like the jazz want to ride the hot hand.
This is where the obvious unselfishness philosophy and sharing the ball too much can be a bad thing

I wonder if guarding the post tires him out more. Thought Withey should have started to guard Vucevic last night and this is part of the reason.

It would also be really nice if Hayward or Favors could get some calls when guys are holding them, tackling them, etc. Neither guy accentuates contact very well. Nicholson basically had Hayward wrapped up for a few seconds before they decided to blow the whistle on one.

I think in this day and age in the NBA everyone wants to get cute with their passing/motion offense and emulate Golden State or San Antonio. That's great and all, but if you find somthing that works, go with it. What ever happened to the Vince Lombardi coaching approach...keep running the same play over and over, no matter how boring, until the defense proves they can stop it. If Hayward or Favors is hot, give them the ball every god dammned time until the defense adjusts to it. The Jazz/Coach Snyder needs to learn how to exploit matchups where a "hot" player is destroying his defender and keep going to the well until it dries up.

I fully agree. I do wonder though how much this is Snyder developing the team and still prioritizing development over winning. Although if you let Hayward keep going when hot it will open up all the other players and get them going when they got open shots since Hayward is a good distributor. I would like to hear from Snyder why when Hayward is hot and getting by his man at will in iso's he doesn't touch the ball for 3 straight possessions in the first quarter and when he does touch the ball the next couple possessions it is just to run the play and immediately has to pass it to a cutter to run the play.

In the postgame, Snyder mentioned that the guards are having trouble executing post entry passes. Really obvious with Favors' 7 shot attempts. The amount of burn that Hood is getting is starting to wear on me. He's just shooting so poorly and taking the ball out of the best players hands.

Hayward's second half disappearing acts need to stop. You're the franchise player , be the franchise player.

Are you questioning Favors.....gasp....motor?

Not really..... That game he looked exhausted. Could be sick, or hurt, or something.

I don't know the cause, but he was tired and worn down looking to me

With Jerry Sloan and Karl Malone still involved with the franchise, Snyder needs to consult with them on ways to get Favors open on the block more easily. Who better to ask than SLoan and Malone?
