What's new

Scary that George Hill means this much to the Jazz success.

It's not just Hill... Missing Favors is at least as detrimental as missing Hill. Our PF position is horrific right now.

We are just playing bad. We are shooting poorly and it's getting guys down. You can see it in the effort and the body language. We aren't fired up. We should be winning these games even with Hill, Favors and Burks out.

When you have guys going 3/12(Rodney), 3/15(Hayward) and 1/8(Mack) and less than 100% effort(Diaw) you get the L.

That's why Quin should hold guys accountable. Bolomboy should have seen time on the court. He was a spark when he got out there.

Yes this is where a coach with a real system would help a lot.

Disagree. We were doing pretty decently at the beginning with Hill and no Favors. No Hayward too for that matter. The wheels fell off when Hill went down.

I also think that teams have adjusted to what we are doing. Quin's sets are designed to create mismatches with screen and rolls on the perimeter, but in today's NBA more teams have players that can handle switches making these plays largely ineffective.

I feel like we have a ton of talent on this squad. We should be winning a ton more, even with the injuries. Ultimately, I see our ****ty offense causing Hayward to leave at the end of the season, and we'll see him excel in a different system.

Most discouraging over the last few games is that Hayward is obviously not max money talent.

I'm also suspecting that we've become too predictable. But the injuries are heavily impacting where we can find mismatches. Our system is more impacted by that than, say, Ol' Jer and Johnson's system. That's worth thinking about.

How well? Without Hill, we're basically the same team that couldn't make the playoffs the last couple of years.
Last year's team would have made the playoffs if they were healthy. Exum missed the whole season so did Burks basically. Favors and Gobert missed good chunks. Plus we were a very young team. Young players improve and we have some more vets.

When was that? Favors missed only 1 game to start the season. Hill didn't really play that many games without Favors(1). We are 7-4 in games with Favors and 4-3 in games with Hill. We were 3-2 in games with Favors and without Hill, before Favors went out. And we are talking about obviously limited Favors here. We are 0-3 since Favors went out or 0-4 if you count the first game he didn't play in(vs Portland). And Hill was on fire to start the season. I hope people don't expect him to keep shooting 66% TS%.

Don't get me wrong. I love Hill and he's integral part of our success, but I'm sick of people underestimating Favors' impact on this team. He is huge part of our defensive identity and we suck big time on D without him.

I've been a Favors homer all these years, but that ****er needs to stop getting injured. It's like he's has gotten cursed by Carlos Boozer or Curtis Bordchart...

I find it validating more than anything. Tough to compete when 1/5th of your lineup isn't providing any production. Looking back, it's actually fairly impressive how much success we had over the last few seasons in spite of our PG play.

George Hill is a great fit for this system & (at least was) an extremely underrated PG. As much as I hope we are able to retain him, IMO just seeing the impact that he's had thus far validates the rest of the talent on this roster (not to discredit his play, he's been exactly what this team needed).

While I still question committing to a roster lacking a true star, George Hill has (somewhat) convinced me that a Championship Pistons caliber squad is obtainable given the continued development of our young talent coupled with the right PG (whether that's G.Hill or someone else). Good things are coming.
