Put that on Larry H. as the big contracts - except for the extension given Memo - were already in place. Besides, part of the plan was to get certain tax relief when Boozer opted out and got his raise, "regardless." When he didn't, the choice was simple: gut the team for a year and lose the support of fans, or take it in the shorts for a couple of seasons. We've already seen Greg authorize the dumping of Brewer, which angered and alienated the Jazz' franchise player, and give up a very good backup PG in order to dump Harpring's contract. We could have really used Ronnie B. when AK went down and Maynor would have been a huge upgrade over some of our other backup points.
I do commend Greg and KOC for taking a shot with Big Al. They could have easily just let Boozer walk without getting a TPE and kept the picks (and Koufos).
