That would be the most disappointing outcome for this season that I can possibly think of. I think that they can still end up with a top 4 or 5 pick and land a long-term all-star player to add to their roster and build around. But the potential for this team would be wasted under Ty Corbin. There's no point in keeping him even to tank. He just doesn't have a vision for this team and that is desperately needed.I stikl think Corbin stays.
This team has 5 lottery players who have barely played together that are all under 25 years old. Hayward is the veteran at 24. Burks and Favors are 22. Burke and Kanter are both 21. There's room to grow with this team. Add Gobert and Neto at 21 each plus (hopefully) three new rookies to come off the bench - at least one of whom will likely be younger than 20. As for the rest, Evans is 26, Garrett is 25 and both Clark and Murphy are 23. If they do what they did last year and jettison all of the veteran free agents to open up cap space to facilitate a trade, the Jazz will have one of the youngest rosters in the league.
There's a lot of reason to be optimistic about this group of players for the future. . . if they hire a coach (or staff) that can teach them to play defense and play to their strengths. If they keep Ty Corbin, then neither of those things will happen.
