The Jazz are going to be the best team in the NBA and their top player (Gobert) is going to be completely faded from MVP conversation, so I think the Jazz should get every other award in existence so I voted 1st team.

Yes. The Jazz defense is ridiculous right now and of course Rudy has a lot to do with that, but Royce's improvement is a big part of it too.

The way he is playing right now he would be deserving of the 2nd team imo. The questions is can he sustain it.

I can see the argument, I haven't really followed other teams close enough to look at who his competition would be to be sure. Voted 2nd team.

Nope. He is our best defender other than Rudy but he is not a top 10 defender. Does well against stronger and bigger guys, not so well against guys with speed and quickness. Love that we have him and think his deal is great for us but he is not a top 10 defender.

Being on an all-defensive team isn’t “best defenders 1-10,” though. There are guys who have been the best defenders in the league that don’t make defensive teams. For instance, Ariza has never made a defensive team. It’s more about a certain amount of hype and if people will talk about you having a defensive impact that year. So if your team is doing really well, they may think from that first and then filter down.

Not saying that will be the case, just that the two all-defensive teams aren’t the 10 best defenders.

Think he should make the second team but they need to find slots for Giannis, Kawhi, LeBron, AD, Embiid, Rudy. Can Royce make it as a guard?

I've hardly watched any NBA outside of the Jazz this year, so I cant really comment on this with too much information.

Is Kawhi really D'ing dudes up like that anymore game after game? Lebron?

I don’t know that it’s a very relevant question. He’s going to get first team regardless of what he’s doing. You’ve watched as much general NBA as the rest of the people voting.

Haven't watched much Clippers, but when I've seen LeBron he's been pretty darn good. The Lakers are pretty cleanly the best D in the NBA ratings-wise and LeBron has the best defensive on/off among their top 9 (Caruso at 10th in minutes has a better number).

Agreed but he still does not make the list IMO

LeBron?
Edit: Did see the comment above now, where it appears LeBron has picked up his defense, but from what I've seen the past few years he's been really lacklustre on that part of the game, except he can step it up when it counts.

Not saying he deserves it but it will happen...

He won't make it. Jrue Holiday was considered as the best defensive guard by his peers but he didn't make it.
