Should the Jazz persue DeRozan?

Just pointing out that many called D-Will a star but Derozan led a team to a better record than him.

What is the free agent signing or trade that you think is possible for a star that isnt gutting our team that will make us better than 56 wins? I definitely think we should pursue a couple other avenues but I am pretty sure they are dead ends but I also think DeRozan is a dead end as well since he isnt going to sign here. But we should pursue him as well after we get the no from some other attempts at better players.

In my opinion Deron and Boozer's teams played a tougher schedule in a much tougher conference. I think those Jazz teams were better then this Toronto team. Also, DeRozen wasn't the leader of their team, Lowry was. Also, for a time many considered Deron the best pg in basketball. He was a star till his body started breaking down.

I disagree he was never quite a star. He did have Boozer playing at a high level those years as well which many thought was the best player on that team as well as two players that were both in the all-star games in Okur and AK which is a reason they might be slightly better than this Toronto team if at all. I put those teams about the same level. Good enough to get past the first round but not much more and never a title competitor. The best D-Will did was get lucky his first playoffs and get an 8th seed in the second round. I disagree DeRozan is the top player on that team and Lowry is the #2 but either way they are both about the same level, which is about the same as Hayward.

Put that Jazz team in the east, and they make the third round several times and make at least one finals run all be it a loss in the finals most likely.

Never said they were better just saying the quality of players he had around him. I think Boozer was the best player and the leader early and it transitioned over to D-will. That Jazz team was never a serious title competitor no matter which conference you put them in. They were no where near the top teams, sorry.

Wrong again. The Jazz in that time did well against the top teams other then Lakers and Spurs. The other problem was that they often played down to their competition. Let's not forget how they dominated those very good Pistons teams. Other then the Spurs and Lakers the Jazz were as good as any other team and beat those other playoff teams consistently including the mavs and Suns. Quit spewing weird **** out your ***

Toronto beat the Spurs, Cleveland twice and OKC this year as well as a bunch of other good teams they also lost to some bad teams and played down to their competition just like the Jazz did. Derozan did drop 30 in a game 7 to close out the series with a win. They are tied 2-2 with the 3rd seed in the East which was a better conference this year than the west. The Jazz did beat some good teams, they lost to good teams and they lost to bad teams. They ended with decent but not great records and lost in the playoffs to title teams.

I never said they were title contender. That distinction belonged to the Spurs and Lakers, but they were as good as any other team and beat those teams as much if not more then those other teams beat them.

I always felt their defense held them back. Thought they were better then their 5th seed they continuously reached.

The point of maxing him is to make the team better. DeRozan lead his team to a 56 win year. That is better than any year of the Deron/Boozer years here. We also have a better team than toronto with him. Stars dont just fall into your lap. Jazz have not had a star since Stockton and Malone. They might not get another one any time soon. Why not try and get the best players you can. If we can win 56 games next year with the upside we have we are looking pretty good. Derozan is better than Hood by a decent margin. Hood may develop into a player of his caliber but he is no where near his level yet. Having an all-star on this team and another almost all-star in Hayward and hopefully Favors next year we will be a really good team. We also still have a lot of potential in 4 more players: Exum, Hood, Lyles and Gobert.

People on this board want to cash all our assets in again for a chance at a star. Then we will be 4-5 more years away from competing for a title and that star will leave before we even get close. Make this team as good as you can and if by chance you can pull the trigger on a disgruntled star then you pull the trigger if it doesn't gut your entire team.

Crazy to me that people would say no to an all-star player that lead his team to 56 wins. Which by the way is better than OKC this year.

What about....

So should the jazz max Hayward, derozan, favors, gobert, exum, and hood?
Cause there is a chance that there is/will be virtually no difference in those players ability to help a team win games.
