Should The Jazz Waive Juzang?

The dilemma the Jazz face is what do they do with Juzang, Martin, Springer, and Svi. Also what do they do with Potter, Oscar and Harkless. Then of course what happens to Clarkson, Sexton, Collins and Lauri and what do they get coming back. A bunch of decisions to be made.

Jazz need to get busy! Lots of players for not a lot of spots. Most non starter players on that list are unfortunately inconsequential. I’d keep juzang, and I think harkless, potter are good for some back up pieces/minutes. If out of options for the other guys peace. I hope we keep Oscar though

The Jazz had Harkless, Oscar, and Potter on two ways to end the year.

They announced they signed Luis to a 2-way, so we know one of those 3 is out. I would assume Potter, but he's been a two way lifer and they love the person, so maybe it's Harkless. I think Oscar showed enough they would want to keep him on his 2-way.

Tonje might be a 2 way guy too.

I still think Harkless is a much more interesting long term prospect than Juzang, so I would be bummed if we keep Juzang on his contracts nd have to waive Harkless.

It's 2.8 million per year. In return you get a player who is good off the bench, does not have obvious holes in his game and knows all the Jazz plays extremely well. Oh, and by all accounts he gets along great with coaches and other players and wants to be here.

Can you find a markedly better player for 2.7 million? Guys like Juzang and Niang are valuable.
Niang is 32 and still in the NBA He has one more year on his Hawks contract
As much as we make fun of him he has lasted 10 years in league
Not bad at all Maybe Juzang can do the same :) :) :) :)

Tonje can be put on a 2 way.

The Jazz may need the open roster space more than Juzang
For who? I’m a big fan of building top-down, and if they can afford to add someone who makes the team better - I’m all for that. . . although I would prefer to look at those options more next year. This season should still be focused on asset accumulation, not consolidation.

For trade flexibility

Doesn’t he just have perpetual team options on a minimum contract? If so, I’m pretty sure they could just choose to waive him as needed but that the team is locked into the (rather small) cap hit for the current season.

Juzang is a good, cheap player. You don’t often find much better when you’re scrounging through the recycling bin. Maybe waiving him is the smart thing in certain situation, but he is well worth his very team-friendly contract.

Roster reminds me of the 22-23 season.
