What's new

should there be a law against realtive presidents?

there is a reason why there is a 22nd amendment limiting a 2 term.
also historically George Washington only taking 2 terms.

should this 2 term thing be extended to immediate family.
like jeb bush being inelligble cus if he somehow gets 2 terms the power is concentrated in 1 family.
or if hillary wins. the same can be said.

i persnonally dont like that 1 of the greatest countries in the world. is akin to a monarchy. aka the power concentrated between 2 families, clintons and bushes, with just a symbolicly dempographic president barrack hussein obama in between

I am not a fan of it eaither but I would not support an amendment like this. Do not think we need amendments targeting specific people.

Yes having a father and a son both being president once makes USA a monarchy...

There has not been multiple Clinton's yet or another bush who has said he is running.

Although just to read more funny threads from you I wish we could have Obama be president for another term. But I guess ill settle for Hillary winning, that should be entertaining to read silly threads about. Since at that point we will definitely be a monarchy since a husband and a wife both got elected by the people to be president.

hillary to me counts as a clinton.
dont now if your familiar with what a marriage actually is. it is the start of a family.
so yes she is a clinton.

there is an amendment for 2 terms so maybe they will put in something like this

Hillary has not been president. So unless your coming from the future to warn us about Hillary becoming president and it starts a chain of events that leads to never having someone not related to a Clinton as president ever again and one of the future Clinton presidents allows Aliens to farm our earth and leads to the destruction of our planet. Then I think you have a good point and we should listen. Also this would make your troll account more interesting and maybe more believable.

just saying she is running just like jeb bush, not just talking about people who got elected. but also running

this is a prelude to hellary and jeb running

It's more common than you think:

George W. Bush (the 43rd president) is the son of George Bush (the 41st president).

John Quincy Adams (the 6th president) was the son of John Adams (the 2nd president).

Benjamin Harrison (the 23rd president) was the grandson of William Henry Harrison (the 9th president).

James Madison (the 4th president) and Zachary Taylor (the 12th president) were second cousins.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (the 32nd president) was a fifth cousin of Theodore Roosevelt (the 26th president). Genealogists have determined that FDR was distantly related to a total of 11 U.S. presidents, 5 by blood and 6 by marriage: John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Ulysses Grant, William Henry Harrison, Benjamin Harrison, James Madison, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Zachary Taylor, Martin Van Buren, and George Washington.

I think there are probably a number of countries around the world where such a law would serve U.S. Interests well. Too bad they won't adopt such a law.

I will put this out there again. My pie in the sky dream to fix the presidency.

They need to establish that the term the president is to serve will be 6 years long, with no option for re-election. No direct second term possibility. This gives him time to do something, to make some inroads, and no reason to waste a year or more campaigning for re-election. They need to also make a rule that the president is not allowed to spend any more than 15% of his time, and his travel budget, for campaigning purposes for other candidates in any regard (so gubernatorial, senate/congressional, presidential, etc.), and that only in presidential election years. He needs to spend his time working on the country, not campaigning. I think this would change the dynamic of the presidency and push the, to really work to accomplish something rather than spending their first 4 years positioning themselves for a second 4 years. And when they are done, then they are done. I might entertain an option that an ex-president can run again after 2 consecutive terms out of office.

As far as the family thing goes, I don't really care.
