I think you all paint a bleak and compelling picture of Dem leadership and their base. You seem to be claiming there should be a double standard about resignation, between Republicans and Democrats, because Democrat voters don't have any values. You are saying Dems don't care about their elected officials lying to their faces. Some of you even admire them for lying. Then you say the Dem leadership doesn't really plan on kicking this guy out as they say...they too are just lying to make it seem like they care about his lack of values.

Wow, just wow.

No, the difference is that Repubs campaign on the moral platform, and a large percentage of their voter base are moralist Christian conservatives. So when they get caught doing something "immoral" (or whatever they deem to be immoral, personally I don't give a damn about some grown man sending twitter pics of his wang to other adults) it looks twice as bad. Much like if a Democrat were to get charged with scamming Greenpeace or something like that.

Yeah I get it loud and clear. Liberals don't run on moral platforms, they run on hate. Libs have no morals so they don't care if their leaders have any either. They can lie, cheat, kill, drive drunk, terrorize and they'll repeatedly vote them back into office. You can see this in Clinton, Rangle, Frank, Kennedy, Robert Byrd, etc.

That's wonderful. There's the advantage of running on the moral platform. You can pound your chest about this to your heart's content. But the backlash is twice as bad when you have backsliders in your midst.

Naturally, liberals run of different moral platforms. If a liberal Congressperson/Senator is found out to be running a chain of anti-abrtion pregnancy crisis centers, that would be a scandal. If they were recent members of the KKK, or had recent association with Stormfront, that would be a scandal five times worse than the scandals that pop up for Republicans when those connections appear. So, quit whining because Weiner is being judged by the moral platform he ran on, not the one your candidates run on.

The apparent "different moral platform" Weiner ran on:

Lying to the voters is moral
Accusing others of lying, when you know very well they aren't(trying to destroy someone's reputation) is moral
Trying to convince others to lie on your behalf is moral.
Cheating on your wife of two years is moral.
Internet flashing is moral.

That is brilliant that you claim running anti-baby killing pregnancy crises centers (a heroic thing to do) would be a scandal for Dems...a scandal worth resigning over no less.

You can't make this stuff up.

I wouldn't want to. I consider it to be asw brilliant as the notion of having gay sex in an airport being a scandal worth resigning over.
