Shoulder Pain

I've suffered from shoulder pain in my left shoulder off and on for about 6 years now. I went to a general practitioner doctor a few years back and after feeling around and poking it while I moved it around, he said he didn't think it was anything serious. He told me to get have X-Ray done, which I never did. I do a lot of work with my hands above my head and I have just assumed it was tendinitis. Most of the time Ibuprofen will help. Swimming usually helps as well.
Over the weekend I got in a fight with my drunk brother-in-law and when they pulled me off him, that arm was bent pretty far back. Ever since then, my shoulder has hurt. The pain feels the same, but nothing is helping. I couldn't finish my swim this morning because of it.
Anybody ever deal with a bad shoulder? Could it be the rotator cuff? The pain seems to be coming more frequently over the past few months, even though there hasn't been as much work lately.

Sounds like you need to get that x-ray lol...

I dislocated my shoulder once, and it was excruciating so I doubt that's what you've done. Sounds like it's definitely a tear in the rotator cuff to me. Hope you get to a doc quick and feel better! You'll need full use of both arms to raise them with joy or slam your couch with frustration as the Jazz continue their rollercoaster season.

I'm more worried about your deteriorating relationship with your brother in-law. I hope you guys hugged it out afterwards and went bubble bath hot tubbing together to soothe the aches and pains.

Get an xray, see what's up. Maybe some physical therapy will help depending on if it's torn or not. Depending on how the arm was bent back, could be a torn labrum as well.

Suck it up.
Quit being a baby, it's a hard knock life.
Toughen up.

What do you think of my pep talk?

Try the add for rotator cuff pain that's now at the bottom of this page.

Maybe you have bad form when working overhead.

Go to a specialist and take his/her advice. X-Ray. MRI, whatever. I was in killer shape back in 2003, started to get shoulder pain, continued lifting for weeks and weeks through it, trying to be tough and fight through the pain, and it got infinitely worse. It ended up being shoulder impingement and I went to rehab three days a week for a month or so til it got a bit better. That's not to say it ever went away. It comes back every now and then and that's a reminder for me to do my in-home rehab exercises. And I try to remember to be as perfect as possible with my form while I lift and to think about whether or not that lift will cause pain. For example, upright rows were the catlyst for the pain to begin with I think and the PT said I shouldn't be doing them and that they're one of the worst exercises one can do. I have no idea how much truth there is to that but I know I'm not going to do them again. Anyway, hope that helped.

There's this little thing I have called work. It prohibits me from posting during the bulk of the day.

Mine is so slow right now I have time here and there.
I actually hate it, I want it to speed up and get busy.
If I stop posting here during the day, know I am happy.
