I would heartily agree that finance is not my strong suit, which must make it all the more embarrassing that you didn't even show the rudimentary level of knowledge I did, but just spewed out empty criticisms.

You did not show rudimentary knowledge. You showed a complete lack of understanding of how basic financial concepts work. And BTW, I said that the person you were correcting was completely right and you were completely wrong. If you think that's an empty criticism it tells me you don't understand logic, either.

I showed enough knowledge to know that there are multiple ways to pull out a payout of a specific number from an initial investment, so when someone spouts off a number, they are not discussing how the money is being distributed. I showed enough to know that simply living off interest, without growing principal, is not much better than living off principal.

By contrast, you've made empty statements.

And BTW, I said that the person you were correcting was completely right and you were completely wrong. If you think that's an empty criticism it tells me you don't understand logic, either.

So, you think pulling interest out, without growing the principal, is "completely right"? At the same time, you're criticizing my lack of knowledge? You think that logic recognizes the status of notions like "right" and "wrong"?

I can summarize that for you. Someone said they could live live the reast of their life on coaching the Jazz for a couple of year, one pedantic jerk tried to say this would not be much to live on, a second pedantic jerk made a tangential, off-hand remark, a third pedantic jerk decided to insult the second pedantic jerk, and then the second and third jerks started to go back and forth as if any of these comments meant anything.

You have the most tenuous grasp of logic that I've ever encountered. You are simply making up a whole slew of new things in this post that have nothing whatsoever to do with anything that came before. I'd heard others say that engaging with you in discussion was a pointless exercise but until this moment I had no concept of how true their words were. You teach people for a living? Wow.
