Sleeping Trouble

Who has suggestions? I got up an hour and a half ago and can't fall back asleep. Have had this problem off and on for a few months now. Usually wouldn't have to wake up for another hour and a half so I lost three hours of sleep tonight. Some other night's I've lost four hours, five hours. At least I cleaned some. Made kid's lunches. Checked work email.

Read. Fall asleep watching TV. Don't take a shower in the night. Don't drink coffee even if you are a bad *** in drinking coffee. I considered myself as a bad *** coffee drinker and still probably am, but drinking a pot with a quite kick kills your sleep. Don't play games in your PC or your console, the things you do with your control motives switched on make it hard for your brain to call the sleep mode. Be passive at whatever you are doing. For example attend neighborhood meetings.

And most importantly, STOP THINKING ABOUT THE SLEEP.

Actually it benefited me the other night.

In the middle of the might at about 3 AM (yes 3 pusses), I woke up. My sleep was dead gone. I took a long waited dump. It lasted 30 minutes except the wiping process and the taharet tap. You do not sleep anymore if you're hit by a sudden cold water directed right on the spot. Anyways, I opened my league pass, and watched the best game I have ever seen for a long time which was the Rockets-Thunder game. So it was a good experience.

Reading while lying down is great for falling asleep.

The problem with sleeping while watching TV is you never really go out. The flickering lights prevent you from actually getting any REM sleep.

forget counting sheep, just try counting your past jazzfanz identities

(after you've done what honz and hartsock suggest)

Drink a gallon of water. Listen to hyper music. Run 4 miles. Get a pissy thought in your head. Seriously though, I hope you don't ever find a cure.

I've been taking Zzzquil and it's helped. I work graveyard and have a hard time sleeping during the day so I had to try something. I get around 5-6 good hours of sleep now, but I try not to use it unless I've gone 2-3 days without good sleep.

How scheduled is your life? Do you work out at all? Do you eat randomly or at certain times? Do you usually stick to certain bedtimes? Usually if you eat at the same times every day, work out at the same times every day, go to sleep at the same times every day, etc. you'll be sleeping like a baby in no time unless you have some kind of sleeping disorder or inner turmoil that you need to take care of. It's kind of "boring" in a sense, but that really is the best way to get your body to do whatever you want and working at its peak.

For instance, I eat every 3 hours starting at 6 am to 6 pm and then stop eating after that because whenever I can't sleep it's always because I overeat or eat too close to sleep time. Of course, social events get in the way of that sometimes, but for the most part I think that's key for me. If I can avoid food after that last 6 pm meal, I sleep like a champ.

Thank you. I have done the eating routine you mentioned in the past and should try that again and cut out coffee like a couple other people suggested. Thanks to other's too for some ideas like reading. For others, I'm lost as to what you're saying.
