What's new

Slow starts

If Rudy can make 60 or more percent from the foul line, there's no reason he can't do that during live action. He just needs to practice a quicker release. I always wondered the same about AK. Some seasons he was shooting 80 percent from the foul line but couldn't hit a mid-range jumper.

Then you have favors.... Nearly automatic from free throw range during gameplay, yet a poor free throw shooter

If Hood can make 85 or more percent from the foul line, there's no reason he can't do that during live actio... oh, wait. Yes there is. Never mind.

Rudy isn't a good offensive player, but it doesn't help to completely avoid him. Which the Jazz do. There are plenty of times where he rolls to the basket and he should get the pass, especially a lob. Hayward is really guilty of it. He doesn't seem like he wants to pass to Rudy at all. Rudy isn't good on offense. But it doesn't help to keep him no good and avoid him. They should have been trying to get him involved last year. So the progression could get started. But they didnt. And they are still not doing it. It's gonna continue to be a problem if they don't work on it. They need to give him the green light to shoot a mid range jumper every once in a while too.

The longer they wait to work on this the worse mistake it is. Last year would have been a great throw away year to work on it. But they didn't. Now we have Rudy still at his lowest offensive level. No playoff run to show for the reason you didn't want to do it. And we got a worse draft pick and picked no game Lyles.

The Jazz are good at compounding problems.

Hard to blame anyone for not passing to Rudy. He bobbles so many passes, so if the ball-handler doesnt see a wide open passing angle where he can deliver a pass Rudy can catch they just dont pass. The one pass he can catch are lobs, and no one on our team can throw good lob passes besides Neto, but defense don't suck into him so the spacing doesnt work.

The Jazz do try to get Rudy involved on offense. It just results in a lot of turnovers because the team is generally bad at passing and Rudy has terrible hands.
