Interesting question about drafts: How often is the best player (usually ROTY) actually the best player 7 years after the fact?
For instance, in the 2009 draft Tyreke Evans was ROTY, but James Harden is clearly the best player from that class.
In 08 ROTY was Rose, but the best player has been Westbrook.
The 07 was Durant, and he is the best player from that class.
The 06 was Brandon Roy, but the best player from that class is either Kyle Lowry or Paul Millsap.
The 05 was CP3 and he is the best player.
The 04 was Emeka Okafor, but the best player was Dwight Howard.
The 03 was Lebron, and best player has been Lebron.
The 02 was Amare and best player was Amare.
The 01 was Pau Gasol, but the best player was Tony Parker (that's debatable tho)
The 00 was Mike Miller but the best player was Jamal Crawford (what a trash draft)
So imo, 4/10 ROTY went on to hold their title as the best player from their class. I think Brandon Roy would have held his if not for the injury, so I guess you could say 5/10 with an asterisk.
