What's new

So many thoughts

I've tried to hold my tongue and not overreact to any one game, all season, but things are pretty obvious now.

-Trying to execute two very different approaches (rebuild and "win now"), simultaneously, will give you the results we're seeing. No defined roles. No real leaders. Minutes and lineups all over the board.

-If you have no real superstars you need an above average coach and an accompanying system that is very defined to put your collection of mostly average players in the best position to win and also progress. We don't have that. We have a "serviceable" head coach that will NEVER......EVER coach a team to a western conf final, let alone an NBA championship.

-As a small market team that won't attract marquee free agents you have to have an almost flawless front office to compete at the highest level in this league. We will see what we have in that dept in the next 2 seasons, likely.

-.....I'm sure there's more but at the moment I'm blown away by that loss.

Probably the worst game I have had the displeasure of watching this year and I went to my 5 year old nephew's Jr. Jazz games. They have visibly quit on Corbin and the front office should have a good idea on why he needs to be fired at this point. Of course we will probably retain him.

I'd say there's a 10% chance Ty doesn't come back next year. Then, at that point, I couldn't see our front office firing a coach mid-season.

I can stomach him lasting the rest of the season before being let go. I can't stomach him being the coach next season and beyond. It's obvious that he doesn't know what he is doing.

But at this rate though we might lose the rest of the games... and that can't be good for season tickets bookings for next year...

I think things look perfectly clear.....

The vets aren't coming back next year, except for Marvin, who doesn't care about winning or being a very effective player. The vets aren't playing hard because they don't have much to play for. Although, you'd think some would be playing better because they need a new contract from someone.

The team has a very limited offense repertoire, and the players don't do it with much energy.

We have no point guard except Jamal Tinsley. Mo Williams kills ball movement up top more than Al does down low.

We're not trying to 'win now.' The front office is looking ahead to the draft and the offseason. So are the players.

The fact that Tinsley and Carroll are getting no time leads me to believe we are running a slow tank. Tinsley is our best PG, and Carrol is our best SF.

I don't think so tho.. cos they could have done it last year and get a pick, but they didn't did they? What makes this year any different?

If anything there was an incentive to do it last year, as we'd lose the pick if we made the playoffs...

The PG we get this year will be better than Kendall Marshall. So that sorta justifies last year to me, we had to take that Memphis pick bullet at some point I was glad to just get it over with.

How do you figure? They were playing Corbinball to the bitter end, dumping it down into the post to Jefferson, Kanter, and Favors.

Corbinball LOL. I don't say this in a way to defend Corbin. Any confidence the players might have once had in him looks like it has vanished. As it should.

This year, our entire starting line-up minus Hayward is composed of vets who will likely leave this summer. There's virtually nothing to build upon this year, but getting a draft pick and getting the core 4 more experience in context. Last year, I think the Jazz actually did expect to miss the playoffs right up until Houston tanked its last few games of the year. Houston was up several games on us with 10 to go.

Interesting take..

I think KOC / Lindsey made a big mistake misjudging Jefferson/Millsap's level of play after the trade deadline...KOC has always bet on a player playing well in his final year before hitting FA (Kirilenko, 1 year contracts on Howard, Earl, Tinsley, Matthews, DeMare).

I think KOC would have been surprised by how disappointed and un-motivated Jefferson/Millsap have been when they weren't traded.

I don't think you can send in the final verdict on Corbin until he has a real point guard to run an offense........and I'd believe that, if he'd play Tinsley, since he's our best existing PG.

That's what's really perplexing to me though - why hasn't Ty played Tinsley at all after the All Stars break / trade deadline? Tinsley filled in for Mo as the starter, playing heavy minutes prior to that.

One potential answer is the slow tank you were talking about.

Other than that, it's really strange...

I am a disinterested Jazz fan until the organization decides to accept that the Jazz are in full rebuild mode and commit to playing the young guys no matter what the results are. If they continue to put band-aids on the team by bringing in average/washed up vets than there is no hope for even competing for a championship. Another year of the same crap and I might find a new hobby. I have never been so frustrated with the team and I fear that the Jazz are going to stay the course and re-sign Mo and either Millsap/AJ and Foye. I will simply lose it if any of those guys are brought back. I am ok with making the lottery again next year and playing the young guys 30 minutes and getting a high 2014 draft pick.

There's a problem with your conclusion. If we play the young guns 30 mins a game, we will probably make the playoffs. That means there will not be a high draft pick in 2014.
