What's new

So many thoughts

I seriously think he is done.

I can only hope he is. This is getting mind numbingly bad at this point.

What's worse is that he give up on the youth so quickly and puts the vets back in which only compounds the opponents runs. Not good coaching at all.

There's a problem with your conclusion. If we play the young guns 30 mins a game, we will probably make the playoffs. That means there will not be a high draft pick in 2014.

I think it will be a little slow at first but I think they will figure it out by midway through the season.

Now they just need a good coach and that might take them over the top. Corbin is holding this team back.

One last thought

Remember when Sloan took a bunch of talentless nobodies (with the exception of about two players) and he was challenging for the playoffs? Corbin is challenging for the playoffs too but he actually has a roster full of talent.

I don't think you can send in the final verdict on Corbin until he has a real point guard to run an offense........and I'd believe that, if he'd play Tinsley, since he's our best existing PG.

......I'm just spit balling here, but with Corbin as coach, I don't think Stockton in his prime as point guard could get us anything better than an 8th seed!

I seriously think he is done.

I sincerely hope you're right, but I've never seen that kind of "this is simply a business" type approach that is needed to can Ty. They pride themselves on their "family approach" to their, and our, detriment.

I've tried to hold my tongue and not overreact to any one game, all season, but things are pretty obvious now.

-Trying to execute two very different approaches (rebuild and "win now"), simultaneously, will give you the results we're seeing. No defined roles. No real leaders. Minutes and lineups all over the board.

-If you have no real superstars you need an above average coach and an accompanying system that is very defined to put your collection of mostly average players in the best position to win and also progress. We don't have that. We have a "serviceable" head coach that will NEVER......EVER coach a team to a western conf final, let alone an NBA championship.

-As a small market team that won't attract marquee free agents you have to have an almost flawless front office to compete at the highest level in this league. We will see what we have in that dept in the next 2 seasons, likely.

-.....I'm sure there's more but at the moment I'm blown away by that loss.

I wasn't blown away by the loss. I wasn't even mildly surprised. It looked like a team that heard that their opponent would be without three of their best players and decided to mail it in. There was no urgency, nothing was sharp, and there is no incentive to change what they are doing because the only position subject to adjustment seems to be the 3.

Like you Bodhi, I have sat back and tried to hold my tongue but can't keep doing it. I have a season ticket renewal form sitting on my counter at home and the past 25 seasons, it has not been a question of whether I was renewing. That's not the case this season. My deadline is approaching and I am really trying to come up with a reason to renew other than "It's a good value". My fear of not renewing is that a new coach steps in and they become a dynamic team. My fear of renewing is that Corbin returns along with Jefferson and the team continues to be unwatchable and provide no entertainment value other than who the opponent is. I can't take another year of watching Jefferson.

You summed it up well regarding the two different approaches and what makes it really bad is the combative, defensive stance that Corbin has taken regarding his lineups. I keep hoping that the laisser-faire approach of ownership stops and Greg Miller recognizes that the fans are no longer stoked so he steps up and demands change. Then again, I'm not sure he cares, which leads me back to my dilemma of whether I should care enough to renew.

The fact that Tinsley and Carroll are getting no time leads me to believe we are running a slow tank. Tinsley is our best PG, and Carrol is our best SF.

You maybe right, but they have got it done very quickly.

They are 3-9 since the Trade Deadline. And have dropped from 7th pushing 6th playoff spot to 9th pushing 10th.

It is is an epic collapse.

Maybe we should be applauding the players, coach and FO for a tank job well done. Fast, concealed and complete.

Hahahahaha...... you must not remember watching Stockton or something. Well that is of course if you're actually old enough to have watched him.

I only wish this had happened last year. This has been the biggest waste of a year in the franchise's history.

This, big time

This is really sad...... And last summer i was thinking of getting season tickets for the first time ever hoping to see alot of burks, hayward, favors, and kanter together.
Then the jazz signed randy foye and kept millsap and jeffy so i decided to spend my money on a trip to cancuun..... Best decision i ever made.

I really want to get season tickets for next year since it is definately time for the core4 to get major minutes (plus 2 first round picks could be interesting) and we have all this money to spend and could really put together a fun and exciting team..... however i probably wont buy season tickets because i have lost so much faith in this franchise over the last 2 years to play the right guys.

Same here. And last summer i didn't really even have the money to do it. Now I have the money, and I think I'll just keep (sometimes) watching the games from home.

I would be ok with missing the lottery as long as the core4 played the majority of minutes. However, the Western Conference is still loaded with good teams and the Jazz will have no bench next year because the starters will be the core 4.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made the playoffs but I still think the Core4 are still not a playoff team due to their lack of experience and the loaded Western conference. If they had been playing together the last couple years I might agree they would make the playoffs.

Play the young guys and see what happens. If they still miss the playoffs then the Jazz are prime to get another good/potential great player. If they make the playoffs the we can all sit around with "I told you so" grins on our faces.

This has always been the Jazz since DW was here. Jazz fade when the games get tougher. Guys are guaranteed minutes and the coach could murder a player and not get fired. Wonder why guys mail in a lot of games because there is no accountability when they do. Sorry but I would rather build strictly through the draft and get hammered for a few years knowing that the organization has a plan and they have communicated it to the fans.
