What's new

Someone once said that morale doesn't play into affect to this team..

Don't you mean that we have to deal with only 1 chocolate fountain before we can understand what it means to have 3 chocolate fountains?

Horrible analogy. I have never had to eat a bucket of **** to get some prime rib. Usually I just order it and the waiter says OK.
What an insensitive comment. He might have been talking about his experiences as a nearsighted butcher. Did you ever stop to consider that? Just because you have the system for ordering quality prime rib out you should not be looking down your nose at people who are having tribulations in that area.

So you're saying that if this team loses an xx amount of games that their ambition to play for this team and that their confidence and so forth, POSITIVE mindset will not be affected into next season? They will feel as if they were used to anchor in another lottery pick. Tanking is for mid-to-late season use. Golden State did it in a professional, and as much of a morale-secure manner a few years ago. There is still more than 60 games to be played. It's going to be tough on these guys, and the only way I see a full resolution to this is to ship out a few of the youngins like Hayward and Enes for something valuable in the future.

If you disagree and want to hit me up with hate, blow me!

Most players aren't dumb as rocks. They know EXACTLY what is going on. And the "Core4" know the team was turned over to them (plus Burke) for this season to see what they could do. Golden State did NOT do the tank professionally. The coach and players were asked to lose games on purpose. Proof? There is ample evidence the way leads were given up late by TO's, players being pulled from games, shots missing badly and the players and Coach Jackson all smiles and giggles on the sideline. Jazz are doing nothing of the sort. Problem is, no one can shoot. SO if the youngins DO get included in trades, it's not because of low morale, it's because DL has found an opportunity to bring in better shooters and better defenders.

Hate to burst all of your bubble. But, Corbin and the players are not losing on purpose. They are losing because of poor management decisions that we have made. We forgot to develop our players last year by trading away a Big Al. Next Hayward has been put in the leadership/play maker spot and he is clearly the fourth or fifth best player on the team. We might as wellroot for the tank and enjoy the youth. One of the things the need to happen is get this media to quit stirring up ignorant fans and point out positive not every mistake. We are intelligent fans it is impossible to develop our youth and win a GD championship. I personally would like to see Locke gone. I work at night and listening to him call the games like a cheerleader. He is definitely enough to pray that he wants to follow one of his man crushes Hayward to where ever he goes next year.

The morale is matter in all areas not just basketball wise especially for the youngsters. That's why the team culture and coaching philosophy is the most matter issue. It's impossible to miss Sloan. Getting beaten is something but defeated by 30 is another story.

They keys for the year are (1) to develop the young players by putting them on the court as much as possible, (2) determine which of those players have the talent to build around for the future and (3) evaluate if Ty Corbin should stick around after his contract expires.

(1) I don't think we've seen enough of Kanter or Gobert yet and I'm disappointed that they haven't chosen to play a lineup of Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks and Burke more than they have so far.
(2) I've seen nice things (periodically) from all of Gobert, Kanter, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Garrett and especially Burke. The more this group plays together, the more they should improve at a team. The only thing I don't see out of them is a legit #1 scoring option. I'm hoping they get that piece in the draft.
(3) Ty Corbin is not a good head coach. Nice person. Fine assistant coach. Terrible head coach. This is one area that must improve next year. Get a competent and exciting head coach (to go along with that stud from the draft) and all the struggles this year will be easily forgotten.

I want to have these kids learn from losing. Hayward, Favors and Burke seem to take it personally. I like that. I want players who are mentally strong enough to endure a losing season and bounce back next year when the team improves in specific areas like coaching, #1scoring option and a deeper/better bench. If they can't/won't do that, then I want the team to move on from them. Everyone loses at some point. I don't want to end up like the Cavs, Bobcats or Kings where they stay down there. Next year is where I see how well they've handled the adversity of this season.

If they get real depressed then they will be prescribed antidepressants. Its not hard to fix. And when we pick number 1 overall that should lift their hopes about the future.

What I am saying is. Its going to be ok.
