Something's Brewing

Probably just wishful thinking on his part. Jazz fans would probably go into shock if they actually knew how many of our players dream about the day they get traded out of Utah. A rookie like Burks was undoubtedly dreaming of ROY before the season started, only to get smacked in the face with multiple DNPs.
Probably true of 1/2 the NBA markets, but yeah agree that Ty's handeling of the young guys this year was deplorable. I would love to be in a position of potentially having the 4th and 8th pick in this draft. Rebuild would be complete with a few vetrans added, but here we are really no better than what can be milked out of what we already have. Anyone who thinks that little playoff sweep we just completed was good for this team just does not understand how mediocore our team is.

This had better be a joke.

Half joke half serious.

Unless Millsap can consistently play SF, I'm over him at the PF. Burks is simply the sacrifice we have to make to get him.

I like the idea of Lillard, someone who can get to the basket, can dish it, or you can just put him on the perimeter and knock down those 3's. A Parker type player.

He's a hard worker, he brings good work ethic, good leadership. Plus he doesn't mind playing in a small town. I see a really bright future in him. A knock down 3pt shooter who can drive & dish.

I like Lillard quite a bit, but Millsap and Burks is waaaay to steep of a price to pay.

Millsap is probably worth more to us in our team than in the Market in general...

What if Lillard eventually turns out to be a Parker type player. Wouldn't Millsap & Burks be a good deal?

That's where the post loses credibility.

As you've stated on this forum, there's not going to be a good PG prospect for a while.. (yes I've been reading your posts).

Assuming it's not possible to get a legit PG talent through trades - what would be a realistic trade for Lillard (that will be acceptable for both teams)?

Good question. (and fwiw, I was only picking on the what if he ends up a Tony Parker thing)

I'm not sure I'd rather have Lillard over Marshall, first of all. I see them as uniquely different and Lillard is likely the better fit for the Jazz at least short term (shooting), but that may be short-sighted as Marshall will, imo, prove to be the better overall pure PG. So, for either of them, I'd give up Burks OR Millsap, but not both. I'd also throw in this year's 2nd.

See I don't think that's going to cut it. Burks alone: he's 12th pick last year, there's no way he's worth 8th pick this year. Millsap: he's got 1 year remaining (He may remain with the team he's traded to or he may not). He's still an undersize PF. Too much if's and but's.

Do you seriously think that will cut it? I'm thinking Burks OR Millsap + GSW pick (say we don't get it this year). I think that may be realistic.

(FWIW - good to see you on the shop floor here with us doing the dirty work rather than just shooting down ideas)

There will be more PG's, even if PKM doesn't about them. There is always a good mid-late round PG in every other draft to be had.

But are they franchise PG? May be 1 in 4?

How many of us knew about Lillard at this time last year? I mean, if Weber wasn't in Utah, I can almost guarantee nobody here would have been talking about him. More PG's will come, I'm not too worried about it.

You should be. They will come, but they will be few and I doubt any will be truly elite.

BJ Young.

Compare his freshman stats to Lillard and his blow Lillard's out of the water in less MPG and in a much stronger conference. Not saying he will be an elite top 5 PG, but he is someone to watch out for.

Agree. Watched him since jr in HS and I would like to see this next year be one he really looks like a true PG, rather than SG. He has the tools, but has to do it.

Myk Kabongo.

He had a pretty poor Freshman year (relative to expectations) on a pretty poor Texas team. He probably has the most "true PG" potential.
