I don't think anyone in the nuclear industry believes anything like that. When I worked in the nuclear industry the motto was "we are always one event away from the entire elimination of our industry". True. On a per unit of energy basis nuclear is less deadly than fossil fuels. People die all the time in oil fields and from it biproducts.
