Sources: Utah has expressed interest in re-acquring Deron Williams

Lou Williams hit 7/11 3s today for 27 points. Killer deal for Houston. But no, I guess he wouldn't have helped us.

Yeah, not worth a first round pick. He is a great fit for Houston. He probably could have helped us. It would have been an interesting pairing. He really fits Dantoni's offense where they are allowed to shoot with 23 seconds left on the shot clock even if you have a defender right on top of you.

He fits better with Houston. But I think he would have certainly been worth a late 1st round pick to help shore up the bench. He's such a great bench scorer on an amazing contract.

Amazing contract? He only has 1.5 years left on it. I mean, the price is great, but the years aren't. I dont mind putting our eggs in the basket we have put them. On an emotional level I want to give Burks the opportunity to prove himself now that he is finally healthy.

Oh, and as I've said many times he has been terrible every time he has gone to the playoffs.

But at least it's 1.5 additional years to evaluate Exum and Lyles. It also gives us some flexibility if Ingles ends up demanding too much money. If some of the Jazz players don't pan out, they can be traded and Williams can be extended. Hell, he can be traded in the offseason for, at worst, a second rounder. It really seems like a no-brainer to me. We need scoring, he provides scoring, affordably. All other considerations, like Burks' PT, or Williams past playoffs performances, are secondary. At least in my opinion.

I saw somewhere that the Jazz and Wizards both talked to Williams agent about signing long-term and he was non-committal and wanted to play in Houston more. Could definitely have been the deciding factor. Will look for the tweet again.

Dont get what you mean there.

Also I dont know how you can say his past playoff performances are secondary. That's what he is. He plays very loose and free, and does a lot of BS to draw cheap fouls. When the games slow down and defenses tighten up (and refs allow more contact) he shrinks and gets exposed on defense. Luckily he went to a team where that might not happen even in the playoffs, so it was a perfect fit stylistically. I think he would have been nice in Utah, but not 1st round pick nice.

We can assume that he either preferred Houston, or they made a better offer. Rest is speculation.

Magic Johnson/Morey clearly have a good relationship because later in the deadline they let Houston unload Tyler Ennis so they could clear capspace, they got nothing in return (to my knowledge).

Marcelo Huertas who they bought out or released. Same idea though.
