What's new

Spinoff: There's been recent threads on new births, but TODAY

congrats to you and your daughter pkm. i dread the day my girls start getting interested in boys.

Ya, pretty much this.

Took my girls to the Splash Pad in Murray today and they were the only two out of maybe 50 girls that were in one piece swim suits. Seriously moms?
We went to the one in the neighborhood last night and there was a girl about 13 or so wearing a wife beater over her white bra. I haven't been that shocked/disgusted at a parent in a long time. I can't believe any parent would let their daughter go somewhere dressed like that knowing they were going to get wet.

Amen.

"In January of 1982, I spoke in a devotional on the BYU campus in Provo, Utah. I invited the students to imagine that the Church was on one side of the podium, right here, and the world was just a foot or two away on the other side. This represented the “very short distance between where the world was and where the Church standards were” when I was in college. Then, standing before the students 30 years later, I held up my hands in the same manner and explained, “The world has gone far afield; [it has traveled; it is nowhere to be seen;] it has proceeded way, way out, all the way out of this [building and around the world]. … What we and our children and our grandchildren have to remember is that the Church will remain constant, [it’s still right here; yet] the world will keep moving—that gap is [becoming] wider and wider. … Therefore, be very careful. If you judge your actions and the standards of the Church on the basis of where the world is and where it’s going, you will find that you are not where you should be.”4

"Back then I could not have imagined how far and how fast the world would move away from God; it was impossible to understand that, given doctrine, principles, and commandments. And yet the standards of Christ and His Church have not moved. As He said, “The truth abideth forever and ever.”5 When we understand and accept this, we are prepared to face the social pressure, ridicule, and even discrimination that will come from the world and some who call themselves friends.

"Most of us know someone who would say, “If you want to be my friend, you’ll have to accept my values.” A true friend doesn’t ask us to choose between the gospel and his or her friendship. To borrow the words of Paul, “From such turn away.”6 A true friend strengthens us to stay on the strait and narrow path."

A sincere thanks for all the kind words.

I'll try to remember some of the questions and give answers;

My daughter that just married is 21.
My only other daughter is 2.
I have 4 boys; 14, 10, 6, and 11 weeks.

As to whether I'm related to Scootsy.. aren't we all related, really?

Yes, I approved of the marriage. Great guy. I would expand on that but if I did I would open myself up to jokes that would most assuredly create a whole jazzfanz'ism.

I'd give just about anything to marry into PKM's family.

looks like you might be in luck here! maybe you should start prepping your girls now, I hear arranged marriages might become fashionable once again
:-)

and congrats PKM to you, your daughter and son-in-law, hope you had a wonderful day

Wow.. 21? That's really young... especially these days... she must be mature beyond her age (not talking about physically)?

PKM, could you please clarify this for us? When you said "whores", did you mean "prostitutes" or did you have another meaning in mind?

I did not mean prostitutes... and I'm pretty sure you would be the only person on this site that would somehow come to that conclusion from the word, "whore,"

Well a word can have many different meanings, it's kinda hard to know exactly which definition you were referring to....

I have decided that KKK needs to be an honorary member of the STG. I find myself wanting to rip his throat out after reading every, single, post, of his. Just put him in the club so I can feel a little bit better about hating him. Thanks.
