The Spurs were easily able to trade one player while getting back a dude they'll waive and be in the running for the #1 pick. We'd have to move off of like $70-80M in salary.
It's much easier to move off of Murray at $18M while taking back Gallo when they already have a ton of cap space then it is to move off of Rudy at $38M and Don at $30M...![]()
If we're going to honor to process, this would be the starting point methinks.
If we're moving 70 to 80m in salary, we're moving Don and Rudy. That would be the point if we're firing up the Patton for a better pick. That's the only point I was making. It's much easier to move off of Murray at $18M while taking back Gallo when they already have a ton of cap space then it is to move off of Rudy at $38M and Don at $30M...
My point was that it's more difficult for us to do what the Spurs are currently doing because we have to move players with much bigger contracts while taking back guys that make us terrible. If we're moving 70 to 80m in salary, we're moving Don and Rudy. There would be no shortage of ****ty contracts to eat that add up to the requisite amount while acquiring assets. My point was that it's more difficult for us to do what the Spurs are currently doing because we have to move players with much bigger contracts while taking back guys that make us terrible.
$68M is a lot of bad contracts to take back. The Spurs took on one guy they can waive and got 3 1sts and a pick swap. There would be no shortage of ****ty contracts to eat that add up to the requisite amount while acquiring assets.
If we're trading Don and Rudy for ****** contracts, we're getting all the picks and the armored truck.$68M is a lot of bad contracts to take back. The Spurs took on one guy they can waive and got 3 1sts and a pick swap.
But if you take on multiple, multi year ish contracts it limits roster flexibility for a while, lol.If we're trading Don and Rudy for ****** contracts, we're getting all the picks and the armored truck.
If we're doing a Presti by trading Don and Rudy, we are consolidating picks into players. Roster's are as flexible as the number of other team's 1sts you are sending. But if you take on multiple, multi year ish contracts it limits roster flexibility for a while, lol.
Would've probably made sense to start that before the draft if that was the plan.If we're doing a Presti by trading Don and Rudy, we are consolidating picks into players. Roster's are as flexible as the number of other team's 1sts you are sending.
