Whitt's teams continually beat inferior teams. Just like Roscoe's does (most of the time, hello Virginia). Only difference is that occasionally Utah under Whit also wins games they shouldn't. I think it may be time for Utah to move on without Whit. But BYU would be stupid not to hire him. He's 2X the coach that Bronco is.

Whitt is a very good coach. I'm just not sure he's up to the level of Pac12 coaches. Mostly because I don't think he knows how to recruit like Pac12 teams should.

Haven't they both shown that same lack of coaching connections? They both seem to consult the Alumni Network of each school too much. Lavell's staffs were absolutely legendary; guys that went on to kill it and made long careers as head coaches in the NFL and OCs elsewhere. To me, that's a sign of where your program at. What's the recent history for BYU in that regard?

Personally, I would choose neither. I don't believe BYU should ever have a defensive coach as their head coach.

At least you have a legitimate reason for not wanting him. And I think it's a good point. BYU has been known for their offense and won because of it for years. Having an offensive minded head coach is more in line with what the fan base expects.
