Starting PG?

Start Talen. 6th man Sexton 7th man Dunn. Rotate those 3 all game with minutes also playing the 2.

It's truly going to be an open competition. I don't think anyone is promised the job going into it. It seems alike Sexton has been working in Utah for most of the summer so he might have an advantage.

Kris Dunn is our best floor general without a doubt... but he should have off-the-dribble shooting threat from downtown - which he has not. If he unlocks it he will start.

Likelier is that Collin starts or someone we are trading for to do it.

I like Sexton the most but Dunn was our best pg last year. Small sample size but he was even better than Conley imo. Literally no weakness. Great passing, great shooting (47% from 3!), Great rebounding, great defense. Dude was pretty damn amazing.
No idea if it was just a flash in the pan and him not being scouted but if he can play like he did last year and we are trying to make the playoffs then Dunn should get the nod
I was highly sceptic with Dunn with his track record but he came to Jazz ready for work. He delivered and turned my head. I think Dunn has earned a chance to show his capabilities.

If we make a trade, it has to be a clear upgrade over anyone we have. Doesnt make sense to bring in one more guy who can "compete for starting role". We got more than enough competition between Dunn, Sexton, THT and George.

Assuming we dont make moves:
If we aim to give OKC as bad of a pick as possible we are probably best off running with Dunn, simply because of his defense and playmaking. Sexton isnt the passer or defender Dunn is while THT is prone to erratic and chaotic play. Both THT and Sexton are better shot creators and better pure scorers than Dunn, but not by that much that it offsets the other things Dunn does well.

I think Dunn or Sexton gets the start at this point if no other moves are made. I'm leaning towards Dunn. That said, I'm curious if the Jazz use Olynyk and space to grab a PG from a cap-starved team like with Collins. We have a ton of awesome depth on paper, but if we're serious about pushing for the playoffs or play-in, we need a lead guard.

I absolutely would just preferred to let Hardy find the dude with the group we have right now before taking a swing on somebody not on the team currently.

Big if, but Dunn was great to end the year and IF he’s really that dude here, you’re in a great spot.

Long term, a fully “realized” THT is a problem. I said a few times last season that 25-27ish year old THT is a dude you want on your team. Fully potential THT is an all star.

Then Sexton when he got stating PG minutes also looked really good but with our front court now I like him more as a 6th man if JClark is gone.

And then to Keyonte, who I think they really want to work out as a PG.

Just run what we have this coming season and see where we land……and this is from a dude that loves FVV.

I don’t agree with the last past at all. Sexton is miles ahead of Dunn offensively.
