I don't think people get the concept of his comment.
It's not career. It's what are you at your best. That's like somebody arguing that Vince Carter is a better Raptor than Kawhi. No he's not. Kawhi, even in his only one season, was in that season better than any season Vince had.
Donovan is a really special player doing league wide unique things much less Utah Jazz unique things.

You make a good point. DM has not even reached his peak yet, but if you pit prime Karl or Stockton against DM now, I think it would be a toss-up -- on second thought, I'd still give a slight edge to the HOF'rs. So far as career achievements, obviously he has a long way to go.
