Stockton speaks out about Malone/Miller

It's why it goes "Stockton to Malone" instead of "Malone from Stockton". Not really, but Stockton should be the heart and soul of every Jazz fan. And you are right, it has nothing to do with his skin color. My second favorite Jazz (and Stars) player is Ron Boone, he is the consummate gentleman and just a decent guy. I am so glad he lives here and didn't return to... Iowa, was it.

NBA commissioner David Stern said Monday he wants the recent war of words between Jazz CEO Greg Miller and ex-Utah forward Karl Malone “put to rest.” - Salt Lake Tribune

Sigh...smh

Now Stern is getting into it? Why? This is no big deal. I would think most non-jazz fans would ignore it.

There have been much worse war-of-words in the NBA over the years.

"A lot of [Malone's] charm is that he speaks his mind," said Stern, who referenced Malone as an "old friend" in the interview with the Salt Lake City newspaper. "But on this one, where Jerry has given his statement and Greg his given his statement -- and they were there and they were in the room. ... I'm not sure why Karl has put himself in the position of saying, 'I don't know the facts but I know what happened.' When, in fact, he couldn't have."

The more Malone talks about this the stupider he looks. Great for Stockton to try and be the voice of reason but they both need to drop it. That however is something Malone is to damn stupid to do.

So we have

Malone-- Wasn't there, did not talk to Sloan, and likes to make himself the center of any attention
Monson-- Writes great articles but loves to stir up controversy, and has nothing but his opinion on this.
in one corner. Against

Miller family-- Were there and all reports have them attempting to talk him out of it.
Sloan-- Was there and is saying the same thing as the Millers'
Koc-- Was there.
Deron-- Was a part of this if not in the ending meetings.
Phil Johnson-- Was there and has not denied the story.

How is anybody in Malone's corner on this one and not just laughing at him as a moron?

Interesting how totally opposite Malone and Stockton were, and apparently still are. Always a BIG Stockton fan, much less so on Malone. When Malone signed with the Lakers when he coulda stayed here... No loyalty; I was done with Malone after that!

Honestly I do not see it that way. He knew he was done with his career basically. He wanted one final shot at a ring. He knew that he would never get it Utah. Guy stayed with the Jazz thru thick and thin for over a decade.

Now however he offers no benefit for his offcourt problems.

No, Malone going to the lakers was a total sell-out, as far as I was concerned.
He always talked about hating the Lakers, he told off Byron Scott for having "coattails" championships. He blasted "Knuckleheads" for changing teams when things didn't suit them.

I totally rooted against the Lakers that year. It was quite satisfying to watch them crumble in the finals like they did.

Saddest day in jazz history will be when Gail dies and Greg has complete control.
True. We definitely need more moves like extending a slothful 30+ center that sucks at defense... and... wait for it... didn't even have to.
