Story of The Season: Injuries

What a season. I'm hoping for a little Lindsey magic with the 1st and a solid veteran signing this offseason. We really screwed ourselves by betting on ourselves as Dennis put it.

And fishonjazz screwed himself by betting on the Jazz. Poor guy.

BPA in draft and two players who can actually shoot in free agency (taking roster spots of CJ, Burke and Booker). Pleiss, Withey and Ingles are also replaceable.

Yep, no bench. And I get plastered for suggesting we should do something about that during the offseason. Nope, most feel we're just fine as is. Withey is a stud who just needs playing time. No need for another wing because Ingles and CJ are great behind our main three. Exum coming back will resolve the PG situation, because Neto is going to be amazing. Players get hurt. Good teams have decent depth. Jazz have gone cheap again (28th payroll in the league). I'm convinced Lindsey had little intention of making the playoffs. He wants another lottery pick.

I agree with this post. It's when you say gobert and Hayward suck that I don't agree with.

I think withey is at best a 4th big though. Jazz definitely need a better bench. It's so painful to see johnson, Ingles, booker and Co get so many meaningful minutes.

Ingles has been much worse this year than last. He's a great guy to have around, but as at 10th or 11th guy on the team.

Quin has to question his offensive system.

Injuries played a big role in the Jazz partially unsuccessful season but I have many doubts about Quin as an Nba coach.

Never said they suck as players. I have called them out in specific games, though. Gobert DID suck against LAC. Tonight he got hurt, so no criticism. My problem with Hayward is that I see him as a fringe all-star player. I don't think he's worth paying $30M to in 2 years. It sets a bad precedent for Favors, Gobert, etc. Those guys aren't superstars, either, but would likely want the max because Hayward got it, and he's not a star.

Ingles should be the 14th/15th player. He IS a great guy, but the Jazz should be using roster spots on vets who can actually make a difference when needed, or young guys with potential. But when you want to keep payroll extremely low, you sign players like Ingles, CJ, Withey, etc. And that is exactly what Lindsey wanted to do. He maximized profits and lessened the chance of making the playoffs.

People that like to use excuses will obviously blame injuries for our disappointing season. I think we should've made the playoffs IN SPITE of injuries. Missing 10 of 14 free throws in the 4th quarter vs. GS had nothing to do with injuries. Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood forgetting how to shoot 3 pointers in the biggest game of the season has nothing to do with injuries. I could go on and on...

The story of the season is that we consistently choked in close games this season. There were a few outliers, but for the most part we always crumbled when the pressure was on. Sad.

You are beasting bro!

I go on...losing against the Clippers third team, losing against the Nets at home...

Haven't you learned your lesson? Stop believing in Lindsey. He won't/can't spend the money. The Jazz got what they paid for this year.

Every team in the NBA has lost games they should have won. Go find a single team that didn't lose at least two games this year that they were heavily favored in. I'll wait.
