Story of The Season: Injuries

Injuries are just an excuse. The Mavs also had a couple of their starters miss 20 games each, yet they won when it counted. 7-3 in the last 10 while we went a middling 5-5. Lost 3 home games in that stretch because we could not make a shot to save our life in the last minute of a game.

You can't even compare the Mavs injuries to our own. If we only had a couple starters miss 20 games each we would've clinched a playoff spot awhile ago.

Good post, Cy.

The Jazz are an offensively limited team. We need Hood, Hayward and Mack (or at least 2 out of the 3) to make shots at a 45%+ clip in order to score enough to win games--and this assumes both Gobert and Favors are dominating the paint defensively. Even though the Mavs ultimately kinda suck, the Jazz didn't have the personnel to take advantage.

The Jazz are a work in progress. They need shooting. They need bench talent. They need experience in high-pressure situations.

Our top six players are:

Exum missed entire season
Burks missed 61 games.
Favors missed 20 games.
Gobert missed 21 games.

Hayward and Hood have been mostly healthy. Add it up and it's like the jazz have missed two of their top six ever single game of this season.

Exum is going to come back not only the long defensive pest but also be the missing offensive link he was drafted to be.

53 wins

Memphis found a way to make the playoffs despite all the injuries. Every team in the Nba experiences injuries during a season.

Injuries are one of the reasons why the Jazz didn't make the playoffs but not the only one.

The Clippers loss against a team that was playing without 5 starters and we were battling for a playoff spot, is one of the most embarrassing loss I saw in many years.

Umm cause Memphis actually had their team all together for at least the first half of the year and only lost player by player toward the end of the season ?? If they'd had our rate of injuries they would have won 25 games

so disappointing... idk if i will even watch playoffs this year

It seems to me the Jazz had a too precautionary approach concerning the injuries this season. If the players are fully recovered after an injury but they decide to not play them immediately for precaution then you can't complain about losing games.

You underestimate the Joerger factor! Same goes with Carlisle for Dallas.

Jazz were 14 of 40 on uncontested shots

40 of the Jazz 77 shots were uncontested

Can't blame Snyder too much if the players are just missing uncontested shots.
