But, every once in awhile there is actually a genuine exchange of ideas. So I have hope that we remember that we are all just Jazz fans at heart, and that what unites us is more important than what divides us.

I was raised in the 50's/early 60's. American history was my favorite subject, and we were taught a not too realistic version of that history: we were the good guys, the ones in white hats, who always fought on the side of truth and justice. The Vietnam War changed all that for myself, and many others in my generation. I had to learn that the idealized version of history I had been taught was a form of patriotic propaganda. Yet, here it is decades later, and I still believe, despite our flaws and many problems, that we created something here in 1789 that is well worth protecting. I never did kill the idealistic view of my nation in which I had been raised. So, when we are attacked, be it physically, or via cyber warefare, yeah, I still care.

So how was your democracy attacked exactly .. that’s just a bunch of long winded waffle

No, Russia interfering in our democratic institution of free elections was an attack. McCain very early called it an "act of war", and since we are a sovereign nation, I agreed with that opinion.

Lol they found tons of evidence that Russia interfered in our election. Everyone, Republican and Democrat, agrees about that. Russia did interfere in our election. That is fact.

Trump being involved in the interference is what you are thinking of.

The investigation found overwhelmingly that Russia interfered in our election.

Is your actual takeaway that Russia didn't interfere? That is not the conclusion of the investigation. Not at all.

Someone should read literally the first page of the Mueller report. Like it literally says Russia interfered in the 2016 election and on the behalf of Trump. I’d take a pic and show it to you if my kindle weren’t in the other room.

Maybe you should google it? There’s a pdf version right there.

If the American public still can’t agree whether or not Russia interferes in the 2016 election and on the behalf of trump then amen to this country’s democracy. Such an intellectually lazy and polarized country deserves everything we get.
