Summer League: Jazz vs. 76ers Tuesday 9am (wake up early)

I still don't get why Hayward and Burks can't start together. It's not like Marvin Williams is some amazing SF. I feel like Hayward has a pretty firm grip on one of the starting jobs and the other is either Burks or Williams.

I'd say zero doubt in that. But then ..

SLTrib Article:

-sigh- here we go again, with two players (Burks and Hayward) who both have a case to be the starting 2 sharing the minutes. The only answer is to move Hayward to the 3, which isn't a bad idea except that means we traded a starting former all star point guard for a bench sitting 3.

lovely.

Now that I have that off of my chest, I like Burks and hope he joins Hayward and Favors in an all star game or five. I just wouldn't want to be Corbin when these guys complain about starting.

You...you're dumb. Having two players with a lot of skills competing against each other to be starters is freaking good news. Do you know what competition does? It brings out the best in players. You know, another answer is to start Hayward at 2, Williams at 3 and use Burks as an off the bench scorer. Believe it or not, teams actually do that in the NBA.

Oh and I can do your little thing too. We just traded a declining PG with limited passing skills for the former #2 pick in the draft. See what I did? It's called a slant to make things look better, which you don't even realize you're doing.

Now that I have that off my chest, start looking at things more objectively, realize this is a business and stop posting so many stupid things.

I don't really see a problem with this. I think one of those guys need to play a Harden/Lou Williams/Terry type role any way.

It's just a matter of choosing which of those guys to do that. I'd lean towards Hayward - he played really well with the 2nd unit last year. He can handle the ball & make plays for others. His rebounding should also help the 2nd unit.

Hayward really isn't that good of a rebounder. I mean, he's decent, but he could/should be doing better for his size. I don't see how his rebounding makes a difference whether he's starting or not, it's just not something that he'll ever make a large impact in.

I'm agreeing with Nerd and Torbin on the same day. Makes me wonder if the earth is spinning backward - if so, who's bringing the green jello to YB's baptism this Saturday? To simply hand Williams the starting nod would be senseless. Not only is Williams not amazing, he's not even good. An argument could be made that Hayward's natural position is SF anyway, neverminding the fact that on the Jazz the 2 and 3 are basically interchangeable. Burks could start at the 3 and Hayward the 2 or vice versa.

He's definitely half-decent, which means you are correct in that he shouldn't automatically start.

^ the **** thing about any discussion on the starting lineup is that we are still accommodating for Jefferson's style of play.

Burks and Jefferson don't really go well together IMO. But, if you get jefferson the **** out and add Favors' slashing, then things start to get exciting.

Yeah, because a 360 put back slam is not obvious sarcasm.

Lol, you good. Obvious you just take the Washington shots at me though when you get em.

Wish we could pick up Wash and Gaffney if we were in that need. The two need to see the court together in the Summer League. Which, I don't think they have.
