Summer League Notes And Discussion

Ya I said this a while back..... Boston is set up so good with so many assets that no matter what they do or don't do they will be very very good.

No other team in the NBA is going to be top seed in the playoffs and being competitive while developing a couple lottery picks with 4 more lottery picks coming up over the next couple years. Outside of of GS and maybe Cleveland I think almost every team wishes they were in their boat. Its nice to not have to tank and still get those high picks so they hope they strike gold and get the next super star.

Yep. I would love to be in their position other than the whole not having gobert thing.

Exum gonna be that guy too.

And before people point out certain flaws, Rondo couldn't hit a free throw or three pointer to save his life and was a hugely impactful player for the Celts.

If Exum can hit the three, which i think he will, he will then blow by guys so much more, and get easier baskets or fouled, as we saw he started to go to the line more last season. 0.6 per 36 as a rookie. 2.1 per 36 last season. I predict a 3.5 FT per 36 from him this season.

The one part of that comparison that falls flat is that Rondo never played timid. I mean ever. Exum plays timid a lot. The kid needs to get over himself or something and start taking it to the opposition instead of playing in the background. He could learn a lot from watching film of Rondo as he developed.

Given how little money is being thrown around this summer, the Jazz may feel confident in keeping Favors/Exum/Hood and possibly being able to get bargains on them.

Next year will be extremely tight financially. I think the low spending helps us get a deal done with Hood. I still think Favs is gone, but reports are that he's dropped some weight... so maybe he makes a furious comeback.

Good point.
Huge difference in attitude/confidence/ferocity between X and rondo.

I feel like there are 3 ways for exum to succeed :
1) he gets the ball in his hand and is allowed to be himself
2) quin designs a couple outs in our default offense where exum can come off a screen and attack
3) Dante becomes so good at his role that he'll organically find more opportunities to attack
