What's new

Summer League Squad

Well KOC's comments are a departure from past summer league games. In the past, the Jazz gave too many minutes to stiffs that were never going to make the team so I will be excited if they actually play the players who are under contract.
It certainly is a change. Jazz used to play everyone so they all had a chance to show their skills for other teams or foreign scouts.
Sounds like Lowe will be coaching, but both Corbin and KOC will be closely watching. The performances of Enes and Burks may determine what other moves can or need to be made. If Burks is unimpressive, I think KOC signs a vet wing. And if Enes can't dominate, then Millsap AND Jefferson will be back for sure.

Has KOC said something that indicates more minutes for players under contract? From the looks of the huge summer league roster it would seem like business as usual at the summer league (play everyone alot so we can get a fair look at everyone)

I sure hope that kanter, murphy, burks, and carroll get lots of minutes, but i dont think it will happen.

we'll still see LOTS of minutes from the non-contract guys, don't be mistaken. that said, it'll be cool to see burks and kanter be featured like that and how they'll repond... even though historically, summer league performances don't mean crap as a predictor for regular season performance.

Well at least there are some big guys that have played in the league for Kanter to crush.

The game I'm looking forward to the most is VS Detroit.

Kanter VS Drummond (can Kanter score against the defensive Drummond?)
Burks VS Knight (especially if Burks starts at PG)

Would be interesting to see who comes out on top in that one.

I would like to see MKG guarding burks. I think burks would be too quick for him though and MKG probably wont get matched up with him.

Oops, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up.

No problem.. I'd want to see Perry Jones III on court though... not sure why he's not on their list... Still recovering from the knee injury?!?

Also if HOU traded with Orlando then may be we'll see T. Jones, Lamb and Royce White on court as well - would be good to see how Kanter does against those guys...

:) here's hoping!!

cant wait for monday.... man i miss jazz basketball.

Interesting that Wes Matthews is playing for Portland.

That is interesting. I guess he's going to work on getting his scoring and FG% up for next season since they dropped from '10-'11. What better way to improve your confidence than by playing in the summer league against a lot of newbies?

This is huge for Kanter. Burks, eh. It would be great if he develops, but it would also be icing. Kanter has to develop.

Like someone said earlier, if Kanter struggles, we are stuck with Al and Millsap. If Kanter dominates, expect one to go.
