Summer League Thread

This is a list of how the eventual top Rookies scored in their rookie season summer leagues:

Not being able to score at an elite level in the summer league isn't that big of a deal, but most of the guys showed at least some ability to score points.
this is why you don't panic if your rookie doesn't have a great SL. but it's still a pretty damn good sign if your rookie dominates based on the other table that was posted where 7 out of 12 of the top rookie scorers became really good players in the league - 8 of 12 if you count Nunn who was a 15 ppg guy as a rookie and second year player before injuries took their toll.

Me: Sets calendar appointment for 2027.

Notes: Reminder to bump the summer league thread so that Cy can crow about guessing right on a raw prospect in bombastic fashion. Or bump the thread and have him give 12 excuses why he was right and still needs time or a better situation to succeed. It was promised to be "fun".

I can hear the excuses now. "If he was drafted anywhere but Washington he would have been a star."

Please show me the prospects I make excuses for? I think Washington is a great place for him to be and I think Washington is a making a ton of great moves and I believe in the direction they are taking the team.

One other observation related to summer league as a predictor of future success, there are lots of rookies who didn't play summer league, but still played really well in their rookie year. Not playing in the summer least might not be that big of a deal or any type of set back.

probably better than playing and playing poorly, tbh. yeah, summer league is fun, it's a chance for guys to get out and compete, but missing it entirely is a complete non-issue.

10% from 3 is not his real shooting ability. He shot 34% from 3 last year in France on 119 attempts. He shot 21% the previous year on 86 attempts. That's super small samples. His FT% was 71% on 170 attempts.... IMO it points to... not a great shooter... but it also suggests that there might be room for improvement and real reachable potential of at least an average shooter. His shot is not the picture of beauty or anything but I also don't see anything particularly wrong with it mechanically. If I had to bet... I wouldn't bet he goes on to be average shooter, but it's possible. IMO the most likely scenario is he ends up being around 30-33% 3p shooter in the NBA.
Ok so after reading your post, you obviously agree that he is not a good shooter currently. And maybe he can one day get to be average. Cool.
