You can choose to pay the fine, instead, and send that money to the government.

Why are you putting on this faccade anyway? You're smart enough to hate this fascist mandate and should prefer social programs and taxation over lining Wall Street's pockets even more. A tiny $30,000,000 is all it took to change Obama's mind and give the banks another 30,000,000 customers in their insurance company holdings.
So why exactly are you shilling for Wall Street and fronting as if you support this?
Corporate interests, fanning the flames of fears that were already present. The attempts of the entrenched Christian power structure to maintain its informal hegemony over government institutions. The arrogance of thinking that solutions can be imposed without understanding and operating within the culture that created the problems being addressed.

If the laws were not available (for example, if the mandate had been overturned), something else would be used instead. Outrage is the product, the focus of that outrage is incidental.

Nothing. And that includes forcing you to pay for education to give yourself an open mind and intelligence.
Of course if you don't like it, you can always beat your plow into a sword and have the full weight of the anti-terrorism empire come down on you. Better to just sit back and relax, post the flag on your house next Wednesday and enjoy a parade. Maybe even try talking to a stranger, and stop listening to the fear mongers, who use fear to keep power.
I am trying to think of a time that negativity didn't reign supreme in American Politics and Government. IMO there are two news factions emerging. The miminal government- free market faction and the government control mandate faction. Members of both the Republican and Demcracts fall on both sides. In time I believe a new Tea Partyesque political party will emerge.

Both the Republicans and the Democrats will ensure that no other viable third party ever arises. Revolution (I am in no way advocating or calling for it) will happen before a viable third party arises.
