Supreme Court Decisions

And go without any health insurance? Yeah.

If you were going to buy it anyway, how does this law force you to send more money to the insurers?

Why are you putting on this faccade anyway? You're smart enough to hate this fascist mandate and should prefer social programs and taxation over lining Wall Street's pockets even more.

I do. I see this as a step on the path to something that I think would be the best model for the USA: something akin to the German model. I think the single-payer system used in Engloand and Canada is not workable in the culture of the USA. We believe too strongly in competition, and distrust the running of things by the government too much. It's a bad fit to have the government directly control the provision of care. On the other hand, Germans have the government pay health insurance companies for their health care, and health insurance companies compete for the business of the German citizenry. The health companies even get a bonus for those with chronic conditions, making them more desirable to health insurance companies than healthy citizens. If a citizen thinks the insurer is treating them badly, they can take their business to another company.

I don't like that the currentl system still relies heavily on employer-subsidized care. I think if you take that burden off employers, everyone will benefit. However, I think that, in the USA, there are advantages to keeping health insurance companies, and I firmly believe in doing what, as far as I can tell, will work best for the USA.

Whoa Whoa Whoa..... You better mellow out comrade. You wouldn't want me to copy and paste your response and send it off to DHS for review.... ;)

Way to hold true to your ideals by selling out your fellow American.

What's the difference between the tea party and "the minimal-government-free market faction"?

I believe they are one and the same...

As long as the tea party likes what you are doing. See abortion and gay marriage for examples.

The Tea Party, in practice, is very big on legislating abortion, marriage, etc.

Gotcha. I wasn't considering the social issues of abortion and marriage. However, I wonder if a legit third party that is focused on free market principles can emerge as long as the Tea Party is around?

Look at that...Brow finally said something that was not ignorant.

That is the thing with freedom. Sometimes people will use it for things I personally do not approve of. Just becasue i disagree does not mean I should take away their freedom.

Well if it wasn't before my post was certainly flagged now. So let me be clear, I do NOT advocate violence as a means of protest against law or society. I was only suggesting that violence will not work and proposed another course of action may be to ignore the left v. right, red v. blue, Rep. v. Dem, Fox v. CNN fights and start talking to one another. We may discover that we all have more that unites us than divides us. I thnk I better go back to the Jazz forum and talk about the draft.

Hahaha. The mountain west has a large quantity of libertarians. Lots in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Wyoming, rural Nevada...

I know. I've lived in the region my whole life. The people, for the most part, appreciate open spaces and minimal interference from the government. It's just that Montana is known as the "mecca" of libertarians. ;)

I figured you knew.
