Supreme Court Justice Kennedy to Retire

Kavanaugh's personal testimony was fine for me, but as a potential Supreme Court Judge, I think he failed that test. As a Judge you're supposed to be calm, impartial and measured. He did not do that today. I don't want an emotional Judge. I want someone who's willing to look at all the evidence laid out rather than 'I can shout louder than you, and I am crying so therefore I am passionate about this and therefore it must be true'.

Yet all three people she named as being present say they don't remember any of this or anything remotely close to it, even Ford's close friend? That's not fishy to you @JazzGal ?

I don't remotely remember every party or event I went to in high school, and I didn't drink. The only events I remember are ones where something unusual happened. All these other people weren't being assaulted so it wouldn't stand out for them.

I didn't realize there was a handbook for how an assault victim should react, and that all women should respond exactly the same or their credibility will be called into question.

Also what does having many close female friends and hiring 4 female out of 4 law clerks have to do with anything? It just says to me 'I like woman'. That's all it does to me.

My friends wife was abused by her father as a child, but she apparently completely put it out of her mind to the point she forgot it ever happened, had a great relationship with him as far as I could see and my friend went into marriage counseling, and I guess something triggered her memories of her dad abusing her, it caused her to have a complete breakdown and had to be hospitalized and everything, so I am not shocked there are details that she can’t remember.

Dude, he's being accused of gang rape on national tv in a highly politicized and disingenuous attack from people who don't want him to be confirmed.

I haven't listened or watched any of this today, but in reading about it I'm a disturbed that Kavanaugh isn't even pretending to be a fair and partial judge. And I believe that a Supreme Court Judge should try to be that more than anything. I naively believe that the Supreme Court should be above politics.

I certainly can understand why he is angry and upset, and he is certainly entitled to his emotions. None of us know exactly how we would respond under those same circumstances.

It is very likely he doesn't have a recollection of this event and believes he is being unfairly accused. But ranting about Democrats and the Clintons seems unwise.

So as a Judge, if you're presiding over a case, instead of ordering an investigation into something where evidence and witnesses can be verified, you'd rather rule in favour of someone passionately defending him/herself? Whoever is more passionate and cries the most wins?

Why didn't he simply say YES to the FBI investigation instead of repeating 'I'll do whatever the Committee wants'?

So... Let me guess this straight. The Republicans bring in a prosecutor to grill Dr Ford and don't engage with her at all, but when it's Kavenaughs turn, the one who is being accused of the assault, they suddenly find their voices and act like character witnessess for him. What an absolute sham.
I thought the same person was going to grill Kavanaugh for them. Like they said we're handing responsibility for this whole thing over to a person who prosecutes sexual assault and she's going to question both sides. But to unleash her only on the accuser? Lame as ****!

Seems the person who would be of great interest is the one who drove her home, certainly if it was as traumatic as shes making it out to be she'd be distraught and crying uncontrollably or in a state of shock.. Conveniently she can't remember who this person might be, nor has anyone stepped forward. Another fact that stinks to high heaven.
You're assumptions about the way people should act are not meaningful.
