and Josh Hart combined for 68 points in Summer League last night. The Lakers drafted him with the 47th pick in the 2nd round that once belonged to the Jazz. I know its Summer League but I hope this one doesn't come back and bite us.

OMFH!!! Why do you start so many worthless idiotic threads, you need to be stopped!! It’s the second ****ing second round and complete crapshoot. Just because that’s who the lakers picked, doesn’t mean that’s who we would’ve picked, please stop!!

I'll bite.

Tell me more about this Sviat fellow. What are we missing out on. Is there any way we can make room for him and lure him away from the Lakers?

He's 6'8" and played at Kansas. He's from the Ukraine. He was born in 1997. I know the 2nd round is a crap shoot, but you don't have to guarantee the contracts and I could see this guy as a Stars player this year. The impressive part of he and Hart's numbers is that it came in an OT game vs. the Cavs and the Lakers are playing the Blazers for the SL championship tonight.

Reckon we could package maybe Ingles and a pick while taking back Deng to get him? Sounds like a no brainer to me.

And why would he play for the Stars if the Lakers drafted him? Wouldn't he sign with their GLeague team either as a 2-way or an affiliate player?

I guess Utah could sign him to the active roster, but after creating room for Melo, who else gets cut?

Seriously, though. This is why I railed on Lindsey for again selling a pick. You can't get "steals" if you don't draft anyone. Jazz should be maximizing their chances. Even if the success rate is 10%, teams need a steady supply of cheap labor to offset the big contracts handed out to the starters.

He was taken with the 47th picks so DL would have had to traded up. The interesting thing is that the Jazz once owned that pick. We ain't going to trade for the guy this year but he would have probably headed to the Stars if he were the Jazz property.

Joe Ingles. Royce O'neale. Ekpe Udoh. Possibly Georges Niang. Possibly Stanton Kidd. The Jazz find hidden gems without needing to use second round picks. It seems like their philosophy in the second round is.... if there is a player that we believe in available then we will take him (even trade up for him if necessary), if we don't have faith in anyone available let's trade the pick and keep the roster spot open so that we're able to choose from a larger free agency pool. It's been successful so far so I don't have a problem with DL's decision.

Svi was criminally underrated by draft prognosticators. It was obvious to me he was going to be special (I watched every game he played in a Kansas uniform).

Elite 3 point shooter, sneaky athletic, decent defender (totally shut down Bagley in the Elite 8), and had four years of being a starter at a high major school but still only 20 years old.

But he had alligator arms so couldn’t possibly be good.

Draft people overvalue and undervalue some pretty weird ****.

Udoh was a first round draft pick. Niang was a star in college. hard to try to say Jazz coached them up to the level they at now. Also I have seen Kidd in college. Not a NBA player. Gleague player all the way

I believe Stanislav Medvedenko may be available.
