Targeted Shooting of Democratic Legislators

Good find

Sadly, this will be no different than the Russian interference of our 2016 election, the big lie and Jan 6, and vaccines. The right wing propaganda apparatus is going into high gear to disown this assassin and make it sound like Democrats and Jews errrr I mean globalists organized this. And like those previous incidents, the fantasy will become a reality for 30 percent of the population, no matter what the facts are.

It’s infuriating

And as an active card carrying LDS member, it’s really disheartening that church leadership doesn’t take a public stand against clear liars and bad faith actors like Mike Lee. With “Christians” like that, who needs enemies? The greatest detriments to the body of Christ aren’t critics of Christianity, but its loudest megaphones. Why would anyone want to join a church that coddles pieces of **** like Mike Lee and the Bundy KKKlan? They make a mockery of the religion.

I also read that he had strong anti LGBT views. I bet if you wanted to dig far enough (it wouldn’t be hard) you’d find he’d have interesting views on race mixing, women’s roles, and immigration. Anyone want to bet he likely had paranoid views on “globalist elites” who were controlling everything? There’s a pretty clear pattern emerging from these radicalized right wing assassins and mass shooters. Which is why right wing media is trying so hard to flood the zone with **** so they can Seth Rich this assassination.

Just look at what fellow Utah Mormon and senator Mike Lee is doing:

You just don’t see this on the left. You don’t see a concerted propaganda apparatus and senators doing this type of disinformation.

This deserves a second look. It was attacked at the time because the right didn’t find these facts to be convenient. But so much of our current situation is based on this problem and this problem alone; the radicalization of the American right. I saw it first hand here in Utah when Obama was first elected. Suddenly parents didn’t want their children to watch the president’s address to school children. Suddenly I noticed an increase in racist comments and jokes. Suddenly people wanted to see the birth certificate of the president, something never before requested. Wonder why? Suddenly the tea party movement came About.

One of the foremost experts on domestic terrorism, Daryl Johnson began his career as a civilian in the U.S. Army and has held several government positions, most recently as a senior analyst at the Department of Homeland Security. In 2009, he wrote an internal Homeland Security report warning that right-wing extremism was on the rise in the US. When the report leaked, the political backlash was immediate and the report was retracted. In 2012, he testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on hate crimes and the threat of domestic extremism. He is now the owner of DT Analytics, a private consulting firm for law enforcement, academia, and other organizations, and the author of Hateland: A Long, Hard Look at America’s Extremist Heart (Prometheus Books, 2019) and Right-Wing Resurgence: How a Domestic Terrorism Threat Is Being Ignored (Rowman & Littlefield, 2012).

That strange looking dude actually looks like a copper i used to work with!

I keep forgetting facts don’t matter. I can see weaving a conspiracy out of it, and just incorporating it into the narrative. Facts still need to be fully developed, but the statement from the guy he roomed with a few days a week, is from someone who should know, friends since childhood. Right now, MAGA and it’s trolls are engaged in a desperate losing effort….

Attended Trump rallies, deeply religious, conservative..…

The man accused of assassinating the top Democrat in the Minnesota House held deeply religious and politically conservative views, telling a congregation in Africa two years ago that the U.S. was in a “bad place” where most churches didn’t oppose abortion.

Vance Luther Boelter, 57, was captured late Sunday following a two-day manhunt authorities described as the largest in the state’s history. Boelter is accused of impersonating a police officer and gunning down former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in their home outside Minneapolis. Democratic Gov. Tim Walz described the shooting as “a politically motivated assassination.”

Sen. John Hoffman, also a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, were shot earlier by the same gunman at their home nearby but survived.

Friends and former colleagues interviewed by AP described Boelter as a devout Christian who attended an evangelical church and went to campaign rallies for President Donald Trump. Records show Boelter registered to vote as a Republican while living in Oklahoma in 2004 before moving to Minnesota where voters don’t list party affiliation.

Go to Senator Lee's communication page and post a demand that he retract his lies regarding the shooting. Also, do the same on Senator Curtis's page, demanding that he hold Mike Lee accountable for his lies. I used the comment that I wonder how he answers the temple recommend question "Do you strive to be honest in all that you do?" and asked where his Christian love and empathy are for the families who are in pain after the shootings and why he didn't just offer his condolences and his sympathies, as I am sure that is what Jesus would do.

We need to all be speaking out as often as possible if we ever want anything to change. This is one way to do it.

trumpers are so easily fooled.
All you need to do is go on Twitter and tweet sometime and they believe it to be factual news.
Someone tweets that the shooter is "the left" and so they just believe that is true.

It helps that it is what they WANT to believe. Confirmation bias is the strongest of all the cognitive biases, followed very closely by, and feeding directly into, the Dunning-Kruger Effect. With both of those in full swing there is virtually no way to impress upon those so affected the error in their thinking.

There is a poster here who I have on ignore that almost all of their posts are tweets from dubious sources and they post that trash here like they're dropping the mic. They are seemingly oblivious as to how stupid that makes them look.

How ‘bout that? lol. But, it is Trump’s #1 lesson: you can talk your reality into existence, If you repeat it over…and over…and over…and over…

The shootings of two Minnesota state legislators and their spouses this weekend — resulting in the assassination of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and grievous injury to Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, who were shot multiple times — is the latest horrific episode of political violence across the country.

It won’t be the last.

In the wake of the attacks, prominent right-wing social media commentators and conspiracy theorists were quick to falsely lay blame at the feet of victims and Democrats. After reports surfaced that Gov. Tim Walz had appointed the Minnesota shooting suspect, who was taken into custody Sunday, to a state workforce development board, right-wing social media personality Mike Cernovich asked on X whether Walz had unleashed an “assassin” and “ordered the political hit against a rival who voted against Walz’s plan to give free healthcare to illegals.” Elon Musk was swiftly mocked online after he blamed the “far left” for the killings in a post on X.

The man suspected of shooting and killing a Minnesota lawmaker and her husband as well as shooting and wounding a second lawmaker and his wife "stalked his victims like prey" and "shot them in cold blood," acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota Joseph Thompson said.

"His crimes are the stuff of nightmares," Thompson said at a news conference as he outlined the "chilling" details.

Vance Boelter, 57, is accused of killing Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and wounding state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.

Boelter, who was arrested overnight near his farm in Green Isle, Minnesota, is facing federal charges including stalking and firearms charges and state charges including first-degree murder, officials said.

Boelter allegedly surveilled his victims' homes and took notes, Thompson said. He allegedly had firearms and a list of 45 elected officials in notebooks in his car, Thompson said.

Two other lawmakers were spared that night, Thompson revealed as he outlined the four homes that Boelter allegedly drove to early Saturday.
