The number of players 6’9 or taller who enter the league as plus defenders and plus shooters is extremely minimal. It’s [Taylor Hendricks], Jabari Smith Jr., Franz Wagner, Trey Murphy III and Jaren Jackson Jr. since 2018.

He was the king of the chase-down block this past season in college hoops. His highlights there rate with some of the best I’ve seen. – From Sam Vecenie’s 2023 Draft Guide

Just three first-round picks in my database have made at least 1.5 3s and blocked at least 1.5 shots in their final college seasons: Santi Aldama, Donte Greene and Keegan Murray. Greene was the only one before Hendricks to do it as a first-year player. – From Kevin Pelton’s 2023 Statistical Big Board

In the last decade, only two players at the high-major level and above shot over 38% from three on more than 150 attempts, dunked over 30 times, and had an OREB% over 8%: Taylor Hendricks and sophomore year Keegan Murray. – From No Ceilings 2023 Draft Guide

Hendricks shot 39.4% from deep while taking 4.6 3PA per game, which equates to 8.0 attempts per 100 possessions. That puts him in rare company for a freshman his size in terms of volume, efficiency and level of competition.

I really think the kid has a ton of potential. We all want a guy that can get 30 but man the guys that can get **** done on a basketball court without the ball have such a high high value.

The transition stuff tells me he is fairly athletic and plays hard... at his size the shooting and rim protection with the ability to hang on a switch... he's gonna be awesome. Even if he never becomes much of a dribble guy his mid post stuff was pretty good... he basically has one move but I can see him getting some duck in buckets on guards or quick turnarounds when teams go small.

TAY HENNY SZN!!!!!

One pleasant surprise was his floater game that never was brought up before. Small sample size of course but that is a nice thing to have especially when your biggest knock is your driving/playmaking game.

It won't come off the dribble but cutting to a spot and diving to the rim or sealing off a smaller guy and turning to his right hand. He may do okay in the mid range. I will not be shocked if he scores 20 a game on great efficiency in his prime... or close to it.
