22.7 ppg / 11,7 rpg at 23 years old,any team would take Cousins including the Jazz. It's easy to be indulgent with Cousins when he produces what no other Center is doing in the NBA.

Yeah but then you have to deal with things like this constantly:

DeMarcus Cousins is a beast, but ultimately, the staff has to be able to trust him, both in regard to dealing with officials and in making decisions with the ball. During a scrimmage on Tuesday, Cousins punched a wall pad out of frustration as the ball went the other way in transition. It was something that would go mostly unnoticed in an NBA game, but that stuff registers with the staff. He has great skills, but USA bigs don’t need to play one-on-one. NBA.com

Great talent that is hard to control which results in dumb decisions that impact the team. Even during game time.

I bet 99 out of 100 Jazz fans would not trade Hayward for Cousins, straight up.

Well count me as the one. I wouldn't even think about it. Cousins it a pain in the butt when he complains but he hasn't gotten arrested or punched a teammate. I still think he needs to calm down but I think the Jazz have the coaching staff and organization to handle him. I certainly would have him talk with Malone and perhaps they can become fishing buddies. :D

Sorry punching the wall isn't a big deal. As long as he gets along with his teammates and does what the coaches say then there is no way he can't be on the team. I think he should start.

Punching the wall isnt the issue.

The issue is that the opposition is running down the court in an attempt to score while your center is on the other end of the court throwing a tantrum.
So cousins team is going 4 against 5.

Having said that, i would take him on the jazz if we could get him. Sometimes you have to take risks....... could end up being a bad decision though

Was going to reply but...

If the Jazz were not such a young team with a brand new, unproven head coach I would want Cousins on the team. Just not a good fit right now imo.

You're not seriously saying you'd rather have Rudy Gobert over Cousins, are you? Please tell me I misread that.

Don't want Cousins because he's a knucklehead. NO team with Cousins will ever amount to anything. He's a franchise player (supposedly). Kings have actually put some decent talent around him. But Sac has underachieved and he's been a negative force, not a team leader. In many respects, he's like Dwight Howard. When things are going their way and they're getting calls and teammates are giving the ball to them every time down the court, they're fine. But throw in a little adversity - or heaven forbid - a teammate who also wants to score some points, and they start whining like little boys, pouting or throwing tantrums.

What was left out of the article is that the Wall he punched was John Wall. Talk about getting along with your teammates.

Capitalization strikes again. Not "the wall", "the Wall".

Never said anythign about if he should make team USA or not. TBH I think he should. I was going with the flow of talking about Cousins on the Jazz.

+1 to TriangleMan for the this :-)

Also, though this points me to looking at another perspective to the "punching the wall" scenario. If a team mate is punching the wall because he is frustrated with himself in some manner is notably different than he's punching the Wall because he's frustrated with teammates who "won't throw me the bleepin' ball." Often, the frustrated-at-self situation is someone who is is hyper competitive and you pay a price now and again with an outburst but looooove their competitive nature. On the other hand those throwing fits about teammates' behavior are simply bad teammates themselves. My limited view of Cousins is he's mad at the refs or something/someone else, not frustrated with himself.
