Teams that this jazz team reminds you of?

What teams in the history of the league does this team remind you of? It could be attitude, style of play, roster compsition, etc.

The team I have been thinking of lately is the 99 knicks with spree, Houston and Camby. I'm talking post ewing injury when they went on their awesome playoff run and made the finals.

The similarities are there with Rudy and Camby, although I would say Camby was probably more offensively gifted. They had two dynamic wing players like we have as well.

What other teams are similar to the jazz?

Don't like the comp. Spree had way more balls than anyone on this team and Houston was a stud. Both were vets. We're too young to be like them imo.

Hmm...

There was a young Clipper team with Danny Manning, Ron Harper and Doc Rivers that people were optimistic about. They took the Jazz to 5 games in a first-round series back when there were riots in LA over the Rodney King situation.

There was a young Orlando team with Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis, JJ Reddick and Hedo Tukoglu that eventually got to the NBA Finals in 2010.

There was a young Denver team with Dikembe Mutombo and Antonio McDyess that made some noise in the POs in the mid 90s.

They remind me of the WarriorSpursCelticsBullsLakersJazzNuggetsGod's son team

Lyles = Draymond Green
Hayward = Larry Bird
Favors = Tim Duncan
Neto = Stockton
Burks = Wade
Hood = Harden
Rudy = Mutumbo
Exum = Kobe
Burke= Jesus

It's probably the best team ever. The refs just keep screwing them.

Spurs.... Lite.

Favors - Duncan Lite

Hayward - Ginobili Lite

Neto - Parker Lite

Hood - Green Lite

Burke - Mills Lite

I was actually thinking about this the other day - being a NY'er and pre NBA League Pass I watched a lot of Knick basketball - the similarities between The 90's Knicks and the current Jazz team are definitely there. Especially style of play. The 90's Knicks were a slow pace team that didn't score a lot of points. The way The Jazz often go through 4-5 minute stretches where they shut down virtually everything the opposing team is trying to do offensively reminds me a lot of the Riley/JVG Knicks.

Of course the essential difference, and this is a major testament to Coach Q, is that the 90's Knicks were usually full of veteran players - while The Jazz are almost the youngest team in the league.

I was just typing up a similar response. That Knicks team had the feel of a scrappy group of vets making one final hurrah in the playoffs.. The Hayward/Hood and Houston/Spreewell dynamic is kinda similar, also the lack of PG play is kinda similar..

Hood has kinda sparked this team, as Spreewell did that one..

Also the coaching just feels kinda similar, JVG was a great coach for those Knicks and I feel as if QS is doing a similarly awesome job here in Utah.

I kinda think this team compares a bit to the David Robinson/Tim Duncan Spurs... And slightly to the J Kidd led Nets, with Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson and Kerry Kittles - Obviously there's no J Kidd on this roster though, and there's not really a Keith Van Horn either...

2014/2015 Jazz
This one is brilliant. Think about it. Hayward on our team is a lot like that guy, Hayward on the 14/15 team. Rudy really compares closely to Rudy. Favors reminds me of Favors, except for the back problems. Hood is starting to look a lot like Hood. Burke is quite a bit better than Burke, but you have to be blind if you can't see the similarities. They had a guy named Burks and I really don't know who to compare him to, but we have a guy named Neto and another named Lyles that each bring something they didn't have.

Even the bench talent is incredibly similar. Ingles = Ingles, Booker = Booker, etc.

Not only that, I see a ton of similarities in their ownership, coaching, fans, front office, facilities, etc., etc., etc.

All good points except I think G-Time is already as good as KVH ever was as a pro.

Just not seeing it. The 2014-15 team had a great defender in Millsap. Where's that player now? Also, there was some no-neck guy who never played. This year's team has a tall, thin Euro dude who never plays. Last year the Jazz played in the Energy Solutions Arena. This season it's some place called Vivint, Oh yeah, and now there's some weird guy doing celebrations on the bench. Jazz have NEVER had that before.

Sorry, no comp for Millsap. I'm just saying these teams are a close compairison, not that they're exact. No neck guys who don't play don't matter. I never said they played at the same arena, but the buildings have some undeniable similarities. I've even heard fans accidentally call them both The Delta Center which, you have to admit, is a weird coincidence.

I can't think of a team that resembles what this team does. Not many teams have the wings run the offense. My best comp has to be the last Pistons team to win the title. They had no titles but very good players up and down they're starting lineup and played good defense.

You are the first person to agree with ny Ginobli Hayward comp that I have been advocating for years.

Is he of any relation to SA Ginobli? I heard that guy was pretty good. This is a first time I've heard of this cousin in New York. Thank God the spurs didn't get them both.
