More fluid/finesse.
Less strength.
A better shot, imo. Better passer. Not as good of rebounder.
Interesting. I really hope he learns to play the 3, and gains some strength. I just can't see him ever becoming better than Favors, and he's too talented to just play 15mpg
I disagree.
The jazz didn't have many needs but one of the small needs that they did have was a backup big since they only had 3 total bigs
We needed a backup C which he isn't or a stretch 4 which he might become, but isn't yet. Trevor Booker is our backup PF and that's what Lyles is right now. I'm fine with an upside pick that will take time to develop, but I don't see how Lyles fills a need that isn't already filled by Booker.
Favors is obviously not a backup, but he's more of a center than PF (I know, not a popular statement 'round these parts).. which means he should be traded for Pimpslap.
One is nearly 6'11", the other is 6'7" and both can play both the 3 and 4. That gives the Jazz some options in terms of matchups, etc. They can go big or small with the back up 4 based on need. That's a good thing. For the sake of Argument, Booker and Lyles are still both backup PFs, regardless of who starts in front of them.

If we have two versatile back up PFs to backup or starting PF, I don't see how it's a problem that our backup C is our starting PF, especially when that starting PF is perfectly capable of playing C and playing it well, for stretches. All fine and good. Meanwhile, our only backup C is our starting PF. Still not seeing how Lyles fills a need.
