If we have two versatile back up PFs to backup or starting PF, I don't see how it's a problem that our backup C is our starting PF, especially when that starting PF is perfectly capable of playing C and playing it well, for stretches.

I'm not complaining about the situation, as I'm a firm believer in drafting BPA. I'm simply responding to fish's claim that Lyles was drafted to fill a need. He wasn't.

Lyles makes more possibilities for favors to play backup center imo.... So though not ideal, it does kind of help with the backup center position

What a dumb thread, and anyone who thinks this pick is bad doesn't know anything about basketball. At the very worst, we'll have a moblie four-man who will be able to provide good D on P-N-R/P heavy teams.

Sure, we can move stuff around and make things work, just so long as neither Favors or Rudy goes down. Still, right now Lyles is another backup 4 just like Booker, when we still have a hole at backup C. All I'm saying is if Utah was drafting for need, they have bigger needs than another backup 4 who really isn't a stretch 4, at least not yet anyway.

Ya, I hated the pick alot

When I heard fans react I thought of the reaction we got when drafting Hayward. The Jazz have scouted this guy for a long time, liked him when he worked out here, saw him make a lot of shots and think he's a smart player. How he fits Snyder's system and works within it will be the main thing.

I'm gonna trust the Jazz brass on this. He seems like he could become a pretty versatile player in Snyder's system. People say we need more shooting and we do, but 1. It's early. And 2. Hood. I can't wait to see what Hood does this year, and of course Burks will be back.

I'm switching my attention to Tibor Pliess. Maybe that will make me feel better.
He's big. Scouting report says he has a wide body. And weighs almost 270 (based on 2014 report). His DX profile listed him at 220. A report on him from 2010 said this about him:
Solid pick/roll defender and a terrific shot-blocker (2nd best in Bundesliga). He seems to recover well to get many shots from behind. Excellent rebounder.

It also said he's average athlete for euroleague / subpar athlete for NBA. But he's listed at 7' 2" .

This is what I'm doing to pull myself out of my depression. DL - bring Pliess over.
