Terror attack on US soil with 12 casualties!

Although, I don't necessarily believe in the measurements used in these "non-facebook" studies, it's still interesting to read.
In all seriousness, is saying Islam is a violent religion really that ignorant and bizarre to say? I feel that it's politically incorrect to say and there are a lot of apologists who will argue it's not, but it just seems inaccurate to me. By no means to I think all members of Islam are violent or condone violence. I'm saying the religion, and teachings can be pretty violent and barbaric. I promise, dalamon, I'm not trying to be offensive (btw, I tried to pm you, but your inbox was full. Can you clear it up so I can send you my message)- I just feel like we need to have some serious discussions, as a world, on how to eliminate violent religious members.

It's not that it's politically incorrect just cuz it's offensive-- it's incorrect because it is so, so void of nuance. It's so void of context. It's an argument used by simpletons who generalize, and want to generate reasons for such a complex geopolitical conflict in a sentence or less.

Religion is a tool that can have many uses, just like nationalism, or patriotism. In America, y'all cherish patriotism-- despite the fact that a devotion to nationality has caused THE most terrible war crimes in history. Is nationalism inherently violent? Well no-- it depends on its backdrop, and differs from scenario to scenario.

It's the same with religion. All of the verses in the Koran clamouring for violence were contextual commands given to God by Mohammed when he was defending himself against the "nonbelievers" (which were the pagan Saudis who were sending armies after the prophet, trying to stop the Islamic movement).

Context is always so important-- in every faith discussion. Unfortunately, discussions surrounding Islam never seem to get this privilege. ISIS has committed most of their crimes against other Muslims, yet it seems so painted as a purely Islamic thing that most Muslims seem to resonate with.

Not what I said, sir.

I already acknowledge that that's not what you said.
I say Islam is violent. You reply passive aggressively and immediately attack what I said or translate it into something it's not while dissing on my intelligence.

Archie - Islam is violent.
Dalamon - *rolls eyes* Sigh... But Christians, but Christians (I never said they weren't violent) *insert diss to Archie's intelligence and information gathering then say let the big boys deal with history.
Archie thinks - that had nothing to do with what I just said and then asks, do you deny what I said isn't true?
Dalamon - your reading comprehension sucks!

Yep, I totally Archied that. Smh...

Is Saudi Arabia considered a radical Islamic country/organization like ISIS out of curiosity?

Saudi Arabia is an abhorrent, reprehensible nation that fuels and is the creator of the hyperextremist Islam ideologies that groups like ISIS use in response to their plights as residents in the Middle East. I detest them, particularly because no Western nation will ever condemn them (while they attack Iran, who really isnt as bad in my opinion)

Would it be ignorant to say that the ISIS issues are best dealt with by the Muslims? May be we can empower the Good Muslims somehow with resources and money?

I have a feeling all that the West is trying to do isn't accomplishing much and is in fact creating more and more problems....

You're ignoring history books if you think the level of violence across both is equal. Sorry.

And your biased if you think its so clear. Huge levels of violence across both. Your argument is basically. Christianity is worse because they killed 20,000,000 people for religious reasons while Muslims only killed 19,800,000 people for religious reasons.

Give me a break. Especially since you have no way of knowing the numbers.

Who else has the feeling that the Christians vs. Muslims confrontation is being somewhat encouraged, staged if I will...
