Side note, but you can't. The UCMJ has provisions against expressions of 'contempt towards elected officials', and it is prosecutable.

That said, it isn't being paid by the military that is the issue. It is being paid by defense contractors who have shown a clear bias in this election. The last time Trump was President, he attacked the F-35 program to the point of threatening to cancel it outright. That one program is worth more than $2 trillion dollars, with 411 separate defense contractors, and manufacturing of various components happening in a majority of US Congressional districts. The plane is good, but the government contract is thought to be the most advanced ever devised and politically undefeatable.

Trump attacked the delays, ridiculous costs, and what he viewed as corruption. He threatened to throw it all in the trashcan and instead upgrade the F/A-18EF Super Hornets. The defense industry backed down, committed to no more delays, no more cost overruns, and even dropped the price. Trump cost them a ton, and they haven't forgotten. They wrote checks to support Nikki Haley's candidacy. They called in favors from former Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney and his family. They gave marching orders to all of the former military men on their payroll.

Maybe those ten former top US military chiefs did think Trump sucked and would have said so even if they weren't being paid to say it, but they were paid to say it. That is my point.

My wife is getting feisty in this election cycle and is proselytizing for Harris. We got cornered at church by someone who told us they had it so much better under Trump, financially, then proceeded to tell us about the 2 rental properties they bought 2 years ago and how the income helped them buy a brand new motorhome and boat, to go with their jet skis and 2 razor side-by-sides. One of them also got promoted at work last year. I mentioned, hey all that happened under Biden, they just denied it and said it was so much better under Trump. There is no getting through to some people. The emperor is really wearing a beautiful set of new clothes, isn't he? Isn't he?!

Retired military generals have described Donald Trump as a “danger” to America’s security as they endorsed Kamala Harris.

Apparently they all know how to cash checks written by the Military-Industrial Complex. Every single one of those ten former top US military chiefs took contracts to work on behalf of defense industry constrictors after leaving service.

So what? Don’t they almost all? Their opinion of Trump is their opinion of Trump. Regardless of the gravy train. And that’s not even counting the generals who had the most to do with him during his term. It’s not counting Mattis, Kelly, Milley. All had to deal with him, and all 3 found him an incompetent dolt.

Lebron says he thinks Nike is the best shoe. Jordan said he thought Hanes was the best t-shirt. Bill Cosby said he believed Jell-O made the best pudding pops. Those are all opinions. Lebron has probably tried lots of shoes, Jordan has worn many brands of shirts, and does anyone else make pudding pops? They are still paid spokespeople, and people should take their opinions with the understanding that they are being paid to voice those opinions. I'm saying the same thing about the 10 former military leaders in your article. They are being paid to voice that opinion and people should take into account that they are paid spokespeople.

So basically the point that was attempted to be made is that if someone is part of the military then they automatically don't like trump?
Strange defense of trump but I guess it makes sense. Trump has made many disparaging remarks about the military, he dodged the draft, tried to overturn an election, constantly complains about the USA and disrespects the anthem so I get it. Trump is the opposite of patriotic. He loves to hug the flag though..... Which is kind of disrespectful as well when trump is the one doing it

He will reduce wars worldwide, and that’s just not good for our bottom line, $$$. And that’s not good for YOUR bottom line. So this is a no brainer and self interest demands you put aside your outright disgust of Donald Trump, should you find the thought of him as Commander-in-Chief repulsive, and do what we say in this case. We want you to pen a letter. It’s your job. It’s your gravy train guys”.

There was an alternative to this scenario, barring actual evidence, provided by yourself, that the arms industry contractors set up this statement, and instructed each of the 10 signers of the statement. You know, as opposed to meaningless and unrelated comparisons, like Lebron favoring certain shoes, etc. Hint: that’s not evidence.

I favor an alternate scenario. Perhaps the 10 are simply honorable? It’s clear from many comments from certain generals, Kelly comes to mind, that Trump does not understand these concepts: service to others(and, shocker, the president….SERVES….the people. Trump serves Trump). The concept of sacrifice for ideals and beliefs larger than one’s personal self. Even to the point that some concepts are worth dying for. Neither service to others, nor sacrifice for a greater cause are concepts the severely flawed Trump understands. Sad. Scary. Perhaps these 10, and likely many more, object to a Commander-in-Chief who so clearly lacks…..honor?

I personally am willing to assume these 10 officers have honor. And that they likely understand that Trump has no honor, and does not even understand what honor actually is. You, on the other hand, assume they have no honor themselves at all. Because, you know, Lebron and shoes….

I'm not doubting they have honor. After all, they are honoring the commitment they made to the duties attached to the checks they are all cashing. Many people on this very sports message board have jobs. They get paid by the companies they work for. That doesn't mean that they ever praise their company and in fact I'm sure many people complain, bitch and criticize the very company that pays them.

Also, these generals are not promoting a product. They aren't saying "the military is great, I love the military". That would be a comparison to Bill Cosby and Michael Jordan.
These generals are talking about trump, not the military.

That is exactly what happened. There was one letter. Someone wrote the ad copy, and these ten paid personalities attached their personas to the effort that a marketing agency pushed through the press. The selling of Kamala Harris or Jell-O Pudding Pops isn't different. All of it is out of the Edward Bernays playbook that sold cigarettes the same as support for Banana Republic governments.
