All he needs to continue being is a demagogue. That will keep him in a position of power over the cult. And they will believe anything he tells them. Won't matter what his actual results are. Just matters that he keeps his base riled up and gives them a target for their hate and continues pushing the big lies. Why should he stop doing what obviously works?

I’m pretty sure our service members were happy they’d be getting out of Afghanistan and I’m pretty sure many minorities and 30,000 inmates total so far are happy to be getting out of jail due to the step act. I’m also pretty sure 7 million people were happy about having new jobs. I’m pretty sure most people felt more secure when they had strategic oil reserves and energy independence. I’m pretty sure people also felt more secure when they didn’t have record illegal immigration numbers flowing into the country. I’m pretty sure people felt more secure without the constant threat of nuclear war! The list is pretty long, I could go on… it wasn’t just the economy, but that has certainly hit everyone pretty hard since Trump left office.

What does it mean to spank a country? Imprison political opponents? Threaten and intimidate the media? Pack the courts with judges who’ll enable your criming? Deport millions of Americans? Gas dissidents?

Who will be spanked?

Imagine if Obama or email lady or one of their major supporters talked like this.

Btw, is this conservative? What’s small government about a dictator torturing and punishing his country? It sure would be nice if some of our non MAGA conservatives would speak out over this. Where are their principles?

Ah, bull****….I’ve raised the subject of education in America, including in higher education, many times here. It isn’t just about pornography. And it isn’t just secondary education.

And, BTW, one of the top ten enemies of “critical thinking skills”, in the public arena, is Ron DeSantis. And of course Trump, who invented an entire fictional history of the past several years, is the greatest enemy of critical thinking skills in the entire nation!!

Does critical thinking leads us to accept Trump’s version of American history?? Is the United States “a garbage can”?

Hell, the entire MAGA movement is replete with Americans exhibiting the Dunning-Kruger Effect, the exact opposite of using the discriminating component of one’s mind. The exact opposite of critical thinking!!

The last thing Donald Trump wants is people using their minds in a rational manner! That’s why he said “I love the uneducated!”

News flash: critical thinking skills is conspicuously absent in MAGA. Trump and MAGA are the #1 enemy of critical thinking skills in America! Hell, in full blown dictatorships, they come for the intellectuals first!! Movements like MAGA are fearful of the truth! People fearful of the truth, many ensconced in a cult of personality, are only interested in suppressing that truth. Not that there are not “two sides” to an argument. But MAGA is “Post Truth”. Post truth needs no critical thinking.

MAGA all but worships a man who is creating a phony history, in order to serve as a rationalization for his power grab. Not accusing you, btw, you’re both rational and honest in your opinions, but in this instance, I can’t just sit here while someone defends MAGA for critical thinking, and accuses opponents of Trump of somehow lacking discrimination of thought…..

Much of the rest of the world, mainly Europe I guess, see America as very far right. Kamala is center right at best. The modern Democratic party is not nearly left leaning enough for me personally.

If Kamala loses I think that is the country finally rejecting the Dems being so similar to the conservative party but just putting a nicer face on things. It's been well established how performative much of their 'support' is. And at the end of the day politicians are politicians. And it's billionaire corpos and super pacs calling the shots, either way.

In that scenario my hope would be the response to Trump is an ACTUAL far left movement way more in line with those European countries, where the almighty dollar and 'economy line go up' is not the be all end all. We are a very long way from that, but maybe four more years of Trump would actually kickstart someone who holds positions more similar to Bernie Sanders and his ilk to having a real chance on the ticket. The same way Obama sort of birthed Trump for conservatives.

I'm just rambling at this point, but hopefully a point or two is getting through. If a Trump election led to a mass reconstruction of the current two-party system, that would certainly be a silver lining.

Why would the movement move further left when moving left hasn’t worked? Especially since they need to win over rural old whites to win in the EC? If she loses, you’ll see the Democratic Party shift right. It’ll become the new Conservative Party as the GOP rushes off into reactionary authoritarian land.

The more I think about it, the more obvious it seems that Ron DeSantis may be, in the political/public arena, the greatest enemy of “freedom of thought” in the United States today. The greatest enemy of “academic freedom” in the United States today. Not my model for critical thinking skills. The man declared war on critical thinking skills.

Wow, DeSantis sounds terrible. The only other person I could compare him to is Hitler after that opinion. I wonder how people in Florida live and learn or survive. I wish people voted for this guy the first time, he seems like a stand up guy:


I bet people hated Mr Anti Critical Thinking over those first 4 years that he would have been voted out. Oh he didn’t? He won with 60% of the vote. What’s that democrats and independents liked his policies so much they switch to vote for him the second time?

I think a Florida opinions are more valuable than a Rhode Island opinion that has blurry view that far away.

I dunno, was Hitler wrong? Communists, gays, and je… I mean globalists were awful back then too. They too stabbed dear leader in the back just as globalists and the deep state did to Trump in 2020. Now it’s time for pissed off daddy to give liberals a spanking! I hate the other side. Besides, the economy judges tax cuts and inflation or something.

Thirteen former Trump White House officials signed an open letter backing up former Trump chief of staff John Kelly, who told the New York Times that Trump fits the definition of a fascist.

“We applaud General Kelly for highlighting in stark details the danger of a second Trump term. Like General Kelly, we did not take the decision to come forward lightly,” the letter said. “We are all lifelong Republicans who served our country. However, there are moments in history where it becomes necessary to put country over party. This is one of those moments.”

In his interview with the Times, released Tuesday, Kelly also said he observed Trump on multiple occasions praising Adolf Hitler. His comments came on the same day the Atlantic reported that Trump said he wished he had generals like Hitler.

In their letter, the former Trump officials said Kelly’s claims were “disturbing and shocking.” They added that “because we know Trump and have worked for and alongside him, we were sadly not surprised by what General Kelly had to say. This is who Donald Trump is.”
