Looking around the NBA the jazz are in a good place to take advantage of teams reworking their "process"

Here are some teams the jazz just might be able to feast upon.

The first and the most obvious is the 76ers. With a new GM and possibly a new coach, their roster might be up for grabs to some degree.

Let us assume the draft simmons to play pf next to okafor. Lets agree that is pretty sweet. They have noel to back up both positions.

Joel embiid and or dario saric make for a crowded front court.

Saric probably wont come over this year because if he comes next year his rookie contract will expire and he can negotiate his contract. He is shooting 40% from behind the arc. I am not sure if he is a 3 or a 4 but could possible play both. My guess is they keep him.

That brings us to joel embiid. He is a huge risk especially with his injuries. He could also be a huge get. Depending on what the price i would inquire.

I am also a huge fan of robert covington and wonder what it would take to pry him away. I would give up one of the picks next year for him. Not sure #12 this year would do it.

Lets look at a couple of teams that might just start a rebuild.

Chicago might be a rebuild candidate but my guess they would rebuild around butler unlass they get an offer to blow them away. Rose is not a foundation piece any more.

Milwaukee is a mess and they will look to move pieces. Greg monroe is the rumored move. Not a huge fan and not a good fit with lyles but if the jazz need to spend money?

Nosactown is a complete medd and their roster might be up for grabs. We have talked about gay. I wouldnt complain about him being a spark scorer of the bench with burks.

The lakers are sad sacks and i would love to see what they would ask for russell.

Denver is a mess

Orlando is flawed in their rebuild

If prefer the Jazz get a wing instead of a big. Maybe a back up C.

Middleton from the Bucks, what's his price?

What is Embiid's skill set? Been so long I can't remember. Rebounding, D, jump shot?

Potentially elite center downlow. Or just a bunch of medical bills. I'd take the risk for cheap.

Good jumpshot, great footwork, great post up game, good passer, high basketball iq, good defender. Great size. Decent athleticism. Think hakeem olijuwan.

Another good comp I've heard is Greg Oden

Everything. Great finisher around the rim, unbelievably fluid athlete, very disruptive defensively, plays surly. He would have bumped Wiggins to #2 had he been healthy.

No way The 76ers trade him before they see him play a game unless someone blows them away with an offer.

I disagree w/ a number of these, but mainly Denver.

Denver isn't a mess at all. They had a pretty good year, have a lot of draft picks, a lot of young talent, and a lot of veteran talent. They just had a 21 PER year from a rookie 2nd round pick center. They had a player who was a top 5 in 6th man of the year voting. Mudiay shows a lot of promise. With a good draft they could easily compete for a playoff seed next year.

Mudiay
Harris - Barton
Chandler
Gallinari-Fahried
Jokic-Nurkic

They have the 7th, 15th, and 19th pick in the first round. Combine those with some player/pick combination of Chandler, Fahried, and Gallinari and they probably have the most trade-up potential of any team in draft.

I don't envy them as a Jazz fan and prefer our team, but I would be excited to be a Nuggets fan for the potential of what a smart GM could do with that roster.

I'd try like hell to move up to get Ingram if I where them. 7th, 15th, and Gallinari. I'd be aggressive. Spend another year being a good young team that isn't quite good enough to get out of the lottery. Build up the talent pool one more year, then go for it.

If you were Utah and you got the 1st or 2nd pick, would you turn down the 7th, 15th, and Gallinari for it? I wouldn't.

Imagine a Jazz team of:

Exum/Mack
Hood/Burks
Hayward/Gallinari
Favors/Lyles/Gallinari
Gobert/Withey

Oh and we would have the 7th and 15th pick to stock talent. We would be set to compete right away and for a long time in the future, even if Hayward doesn't stay.

Not to be contrary but I would absolutely turn down that trade.

7 + 15 + Gallinari does not equal a franchise player/superstar that could anchor a roster for 10 years, which I think is what you get with either Simmons or Ingram.

Fair disagreement. This is just off-season musing.

Are Simmons or Ingram really that good though? I like them both, but both kind of underwhelmed me as the season went on.

7, 15, and Gallinari is a huge haul though. If Simmons or Ingram (whoever they would pick) aren't perennial All-Stars, then you have to think denying the trade would be a loss.

I thought this thread was about the controversy of Zjazz players eating at the free media buffet at road games.

If yall follow the rest of the league a little bit then you would know out of all the bigs Philly could trade it is Okafor. Noel is the one that has shown them things.. Noel can also play PF or center. Okafor and Emblied on same time makes no sense and they would prefer Emblied and Noel together.. ALos a first rounder for
Covington?lol. He was a second rounder and second rounders like him can be found in every draft.
Philly will most likely trade Okafor. Also do not thinh they will pick Simmons just because that's what experts say. Ingram could look very appealing to them, More so then Simmons. I know Aussie fans cant understand why someone would pass on the great Simmons, But it has a good chance of coming true.

For anyone who follows the league more than just a little bit, Philly isn't trading any of their young players on the cheap. They may be switching gears from the serious rebuild, but if so they will be looking for established players, not more rebuilding pieces, so this discussion is silly.
