The case for Denzel Valentine

He's 6'6 with a damn near 6'11 wingspan.

How the hell is he undersized?

I bit and checked out Denzel Valentine ,immediately slow and nonathletic jumps out at you,then watched Furkan Korkmaz video and the opposite ,long lean and fast. AND watching OKC and GS ,who does Denzel Valentine most resemble ...Maurice Speights PASS on him!

The argument for him that in the draft world of potential potential potential its easy to go wrong looking into crystals balls.

Especially in this years draft where the pool of potential all star talent out there is very very thin.

You know what Valentine is. And what he is, is a excellent shooter who rebounds well from his position with excellent court vision and high IQ. His defensive problems are well known.

At worst, Valentine will be a solid floor spacing role player in the NBA

I'd characterize Korver as "underappreciated" and I include myself in that critique. He we pretty well liked by most fans including on this board.

Hell, I might be the biggest Burks fan on this message board and even I was actually ok with foye starting over Burks. (Jefferson, cj miles, raja bell, josh howard are a different story)

Weaknesses include: defense, creating offense, finishing at the rim, and decision making.

Sounds like a keeper.

I'm not sure I would say decision making is a weakness.

Regardless, those weaknesses + his age are a concern. He has really good strengths too. On the right team he makes a good role player IMO.

I think their might be some better, higher-upside projects at #12 (eg. Thon Maker), but Valentine does have the potential to play right away. I like that he has worked hard, gotten better every year, and nothing has been handed to him. He went from barely playing for two seasons at MSU to being one of the top players in the country.
