What's new

The Donovan Mitchell Hype Thread! (repository of highlights and effusive praise)

What was your previous name on here?
I'm new. Started posting because I'm a Zags fan. My bet with colton is the reason he has the Zags logo as his avatar. I liked the Sonics before they moved. Refused to follow the team after that. And I've always hated Portland.

So searching for a new team to follow caused me to lurk here off and on due to knowing about the Stockton/Utah/Gonzaga connection. Finally signed up because Utah drafted NWG. I really thought he'd be a steal. Obviously, I was too big of a homer to see his weaknesses. But still hope he can develop into a solid backup.

Well I think you are a good poster, so welcome.

Thanks. I try to stay positive. Jazz seems to be one of the organizations trying to do things the right way. That's one of the reasons I followed them. Along with the fact Gonzaga has a rivalry with the Cougars. We always win the conference, but BYU has defeated us a number of times. This year really hurt: the only loss until the tournament!

Ya I'm a byu fan and I don't understand it. Always expect to lose against the zags.

The SKY is the limit here.

I think hes on the same talent level as Rudy Gobert. Now, he just needs the experience. If they redid the draft today he would go 5. Can you believe it? We got a number 5 draft pick in this EPIC '17 draft!

His all around energy and personality are so positive. I think he and Rudy are the leaders going forward.

Revolution you negged me for my comment in this hype thread? haha. Come on bro, I know its a hype thread but someone has to bring us back to reality.

I am a Zags fan and a BYU fan. BYU first of course.

Really excited to see Rui Huchimura and Killian tillie next year

Mitchell's sophomore stats at Louisville compare well to CJ McCollum as a 2nd and 3rd-year player at Lehigh. McCollum had more shot attempts per game, but actually shot fewer 3s than Mitchell. Mitchell is more explosive than CJ and has some of the same shiftiness off the dribble. I hadn't thought of Mitchell as having the same elite shooting touch as CJ, but their shooting percentages are actually pretty close in college. Mitchell played in a tougher conference, obviously, but McCollum had to create a lot of his own looks.

Utah Jazz twitter feed posted a video of Mitchell playing golf w/ John Collins and Jordan Bell. Mitchell actually swings left handed, which is wild considering he plays basketball right handed.

I dont golf, but is that a hard thing to do? I imagine he must have been a switch hitter in baseball if he can do that.

Phil Mickelson is right-handed.
