What's new

the ever-changing feelings about Enes Kanter

We were tied with NY in the third when Kanter came in the game for Favors....All I know is when Kanter starts, we lose. When he plays we seem to fall behind.

When is Gobert going to take some of Kanter's minutes. His per/36 last night:

72 pts, 72 rebs, 100% fg. Watch out Wilt.

Really? Did you even watch the game? Favors hardly played in the first half because he caught 3 fouls. Kanter logged major minutes in the first half, and that is when we were leading for an extended period of time. Trey didn't show up to play last night, and that's the real stat of the season: when we don't have a PG, we lose (hence the 1-11 start with Kanter at beginning of year).

The Favors and Kanter duo has been surprisingly good as of late, but it has coincided with Marvin seriously slumping, Trey slumping, and Jeremy catching DNPs. We started the year w/o Trey, Marvin and Jeremy, and we lost a lot. In March, that trio, which are integral role players for the way this team is constructed, have had less of an impact coupled with a return to a harder schedule, and we returned to losing. Only an idiot would claim that the only variable at play is Kanter. SMH.

I like Kanter well enough. I think he could be a good player. But my ideal scenario would be for us to find a good deal for him. I'm not sure if that's out there. We need more ball movement and defense... he doesn't do either of these things well.

I wouldn't trade Kanter. Our whole offense will look different once we get a real 1st-option scorer. Then you'll see what a nice 2nd option Kanter can be. He's still improving, and I doubt we'd get fair value for him.

I don't like my 2nd option to be a defensive liability.

His bad D is over exaggerated. He looks bad with RJ or Burke because he is not elite and they are poor defenders. With decent wing D he does fine.

I've always considered boards to be a part of D. Kanter Does well here.

Started playing basketball late. Didn't grow up playing young like most kids.
2010-2011 - Couldn't play at Kentucky
2011-2012 - Drafted 3rd overall - plays 13 minutes a game
2012-2013 - Comes into camp in great shape - plays 15 minutes a game
2013-2014 - Coming off an injury and playing for the worst NBA coach in the league and with Tinsley/Lucas at PG.
Gets injured and gets blamed for losses. And fans blame him and take Corbins side for the lack of wins.
After the first 3 years of barely playing any REAL basketball.
Fans are all ready to ship him out for lack of ball movement and defensive rotations at the young age of 21.
Fans treat him like he is a 30 year old vet who hasn't changed or improved.

2014 Summer and Future
Dennis Lyndsay is not retarded like most on JazzFanz
Hires a coach who can handle playing Kanter and Favors together. The way the Pacers, Grizzlies & Spurs do.
Still gets a back up stretch 4 for when we play smaller teams.
Coach lets Kanter learn the game more and get more experience under his belt.
Both him and Favors play better than expected next year after finally getting a real coach.
The following year they both break out and the team is top 5 in rebounds and defense.
Everyone who previously were hating on Jazzfanz, acts like the Kanter and Favors combo was their idea to begin with and they never doubted it.

A 6'11" PF/C who can hit mid-range jumpers, grab offensive boards, score in the paint, move the ball and run the floor is a decent asset to have. I really don't think he's holding the team back. What the Jazz need is a consistent scorer and creator on the perimeter.
